The American Institute for Economic Research in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, was founded in 1933 as the first independent voice for sound economics in the United States. Today it publishes ongoing research, hosts educational programs, publishes books, sponsors interns and scholars, and is home to the world-renowned Bastiat Society and the highly respected Sound Money Project. The American Institute for Economic Research is a 501c3 public charity.

Clear, compelling argument for free markets

We need more thought leaders like Peter Boettke. Swimming against the stream of collectivist and populist ideology, Mr. Boettke provides a disinfecting light. Well worth the read.

It is difficult to overstate the enthusiasm with which Dr. Boettke teaches his subject matter. Not only is it clear that he will extensively well-read in his channels of inquiry, he is determined to demonstrate to the reader why the content is important, useful, and fascinating on its own. As an avid researcher, it is refreshing to come across a brilliant teacher who's enthusiasm treads alongside his arguments. However, it would be a mistake to confuse Dr. Boettke's humility for a lack of academic rigour; the content of this book draws on a long lineage of economic traditions including the classical economists, classical liberal political economy, the Austrian school, and public choice economists. This is the kind of book that should be read by ANY undergraduates or laymen who have the curiosity to learn economics!

Il faut aller au delà du titre et de la description de ses piliers pour vraiment apprécier l'ouvrage. Boettke offre une vision de l'économie dont la pédagogie est remarquable. Même si l'on n'adhère pas à tout, la cohérence interne de son propos est remarquable et la rhétorique qu'il utilise plutot puissante. On trouve un peu de tout dans cet ouvrage, mais l'analyse du populisme est plutot intéressante. Un ouvrage peu cher qu'on ne peut que recommander.
