I am a board .member for an Home Owners Association (HOA). I am trying to understand our HOW and individual owner insurance and what to do to be ready for a storm. This book helped me understand the role of the adjuster. I wish he had had more examples of settling HOA claims. The two policies involved make things a little more complicated.

However, the book definitely contributed to my understanding of what we should do to facilitate the claims process should we have a catastrophic event.

If you are a homeowner in hurricane country, especially Florida, you really should read this book. The author obviously has years of experience as an insurance adjuster and intends to help people form realistic expectations regarding insurance claims. Did you know that the cost of boarding up your home before a storm isn't covered by your policy? But, if the sheriff forces an evacuation of your neighborhood due to a fire hazard or toxic spill, your expenses are covered. This book tells it like it is.
