About the Author
Jami Davenport has been writing since she was old enough to know the alphabet. An advocate of happy endings, Jami writes sexy romantic comedy, sizzling suspense, and equestrian fiction. Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her husband, a former Green Beret turned plumber, two dogs large enough to saddle, a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat, and an opinionated Hanoverian mare. Jami is a sports fan and loves football. She's been a rabid Seahawk fan and season-ticket holder through the good and bad times. In her spare time, Jami rides and shows her dressage horse and grows roses. An avid boater, Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, the setting for her first two books. A third-generation Washingtonian, Jami has never lived anywhere else. In her opinion, it's the most beautiful place on earth. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I don't like books when the plot is so cut and dried that nothing is a surprise. This was not one of those books, there were a few things that were unknown as you went along and it kept my interest. I'll be picking up the rest of the series once I get some$$er and Derick, they were just so good together, I good fight then a good (hot) roll in the hay. Derek and Rachel have a history - former best friends and lovers. When she agrees to be a caretaker for his home while he's away, they are once again thrown together. Rachel needs the job and the money so she will do just about anything.
This is the story of their love and how they find each other again after a long time apart.
The story takes you through a journey with two characters who have history. One is trying to deal with betrayal and the other is just trying to keep their career. Using each other to get what they need, leads to so much more.
In this book you're introduced to characters who you'll see later in the series, events that continue through the books, and a story that will leave you raw, emotional, rooting for the underdog, and cheering in the end.
Fourth and Goal is a fast-paced, highly sensual read that packs an emotionally satisfying punch while tackling complex issues all readers can relate to. Five stars!
Since the book is a mix of romance and football, you will appreciate the right balance of both to the story. It offered depth of character as well as the right amount of drama. Not a lot of laugh out loud moments, but there were a few tear-jerking moments to savor.
Definitely recommendable to an adult audience to appreciate and I look forward to the other books in the series. Each book is capable of standing alone, so there is no confusion to how the story unfolds. Having read Down by Contact (book 3) prior to reading this one, I can tell you that it is the truth.
There were some parts that felt it dragged or was crammed with filler, but all in all a decent book to read. I did feel that there were a few parts where the story could have been tightened up a bit more, but you will not be all that disappointed.
