I had one bulb out of four that did not light. Fovitec replaced immediately.
Initially put in a lower rating for the one bad bulb. Would like to retract rating because of stellar service from Fovitec, but don't know how.
Nice doing business with Fovitec . I can get bulbs other places but will continue ordering with Fovitec and recommend the same to others.
Simply not true. I use 7 of these bulbs around the tent and most of the time my nikon wants to use the flash because of poor lighting conditions.
These lights give off more light if angled sideways facing the subject. These lights scatter all over the place instead of hitting your subject.
I photograph bags, and need a lot of light (F11, ISO 100, 1/2 55-200mm) and I need more light.
If you are standing back at least 9 feet from your subject, then you need even more light. Since hand bags look natural at a distance (8-10 feet back).
These lights will never replace strobes or Led lights.
The quality of the whiteness is good, but they need to be much more directional, and a few hundred times brighter. Diffusing them adds to the light reduction problem. You will see your room lit up so bright, and you will not be able to imagine more light until you try to take a shot and the Nikon is blinking (poor light use flash). To compensate you will crank up your S value, and the photograph will lose sharpness.
These were used successfully for small tabletop product shots and some small video projects. As long as you know the limitations of using CFL and the fact that even at 85 Watt you are still going to need to up your ISO these can be very useful for some photo projects.
