I found the following recipe for crumpets on the Internet. I needed these rings to cook them in. They arrived today and came with a recipe for English Muffins and Crumpets, to be baked in the oven. I wanted to make them on the top of the stove with the Internet recipe. Here it is.450g Bread Flour1x7g sachet of yeast10oz water10oz milk1 tsp salt1 tsp sugar1. Warm the milk and water together slightly.2. Place all the ingredients into a bowl and beat until smooth (1-2 minutes)3. Leave to double in size.4. Grease a heavy frying pan or griddle, and the muffin rings. Put the rings on top then heat up on stove, half fill with mixture.5. Maintaining a moderate heat, cook for 5 mins until the mixture bubbles6. Reduce the heat until bubbles have burst.7. Turn the crumpets over and cook for another 2 minutes.8. Serve hot with butter and jam.9. If allowed to cool, toast before serving. The mixed ingredients doubled in size as stated in recipe and there was enough to make 13 crumpets. I'm posting 3 pictures, of various stages of making them. They taste exactly the same as the ones I used to buy in the UK.The mix stuck on the rings a little while cooking, and it was a bit tricky trying not to burn my fingers (when I took them off) but I managed OK. They probably would have been easier to get off, if I used cooking spray instead of greasing them with margarine. The rings are just the right size. I hand washed them and they cleaned up OK. No rusting. I'm glad I bought two sets, otherwise they would have taken much longer to make.
for all sort of edible items. They are very shiny and the metal is of a decent thickness. Don't expect these to survive a tank, however. I've made many batches of English muffins, crumpets, and Kouigns Amann, and everything has come out very well. As long as you grease them (preferably with nonstick spray) and you wash them the same day, they will be fine. I don't even dry them with a towel, I just leave them by the kitchen window and they are ready by the time I'm done tidying up. I've yet to see any rust on any of them, nor do they have any obvious dents or scratches.
I would recommend buying at least two sets of these if you are going to be using them often. If you grease them well, you can reuse them for your next batch without having to clean them in between.
The only thing I don't like about these is that the part of the ring where the two ends of the metal are joined is a bit sharp. I will say, however, that I've never cut nor scratched myself with these rings. The rest of the ring is fine, as bottoms and tops of the band are folded so that the edges are smooth.
5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a solid set of rings...

I use these to make Alton Brown's recipe for English Muffins (easily found with an internet search - I highly recommend the recipe), and they worked great. I sprinkled cornmeal on the griddle when I cooked them, which added a nice touch. Better than store-bought, and no corn syrup or preservatives.
They also work fine for making fried eggs to fit the muffins - I coat them with cooking spray.
They're probably not sturdy enough to stuff in a drawer or they'll get bent, so I just keep them in the boxes, but they're certainly worth what I paid for them.
Purchased this to make muffins & eggs to put on those muffins. The rings seem to be very well made, very sturdy and should last a long time; we have been using them since Jan. and they still as nice as the first day. The only complaint we have is even though we tried cooking spray, cococut oil & flour they still stick once in a while; for muffins & eggs. They do however clean up very easily & you might just have to soak them for a while. Plus they do not stick bad enough to ruin the muffins or egg. We had coated versions of these years ago that never stuck, but they handles that ue to get messy.
Pros: Nice design and overall look Made of metal, to avoid breakage & Easy to clean
Cons: Stick to muffins or egg, every once in a while
Overall, we like these rings and would recommend it to anyone looking for a new set to make muffins or eggs.

I wanted a ring to cut out English muffins. I am not sure what they intended, but the steel is not sharp enough for that function. However, I used it to make an "egg mcmuffin" i.e., poured the egg mixture into the ring and it produced a perfect disk of egg to slide onto my English muffin. So the purchase was not in vain, just not what I had in mind.
Works great and does what it's supposed to. We made our own english muffins for eggs benedict and they came out perfect. Great size, easy to store, comes with a recipe book and can be a multi use tool, as a cookie cutter (big cookie!), egg shaper while cooking, biscuit cutter or former, small cake pan for little layer cakes, whatever. I am not that fond of collecting a tool for this and that and kitchen clutter, so these are a little expense for a decent product that can be utilized for many incarnations for a small price. Our family likes them a lot, and we use them often, good buy.
The fox run brand is one I own several items and have been impressed with the quality and durability at a good price. The english muffin rings are no different. They are thin which worried me, but they are strong enough to hold the batter in. The bottoms fit nice and flat, an issue I had with a different type of ring. These make perfect little muffins, or crumpets. They are easy to clean up.
Again, I was concerned while washing that I might bend them out of shape, but although they feel thin they hold up fine and retain their round shape. Very nice rings for delicious breakfast rounds.
I'm going through a sourdough phase, and I ordered these to make crumpets out of my discard starter. I've never made an English muffin in my life, so I can't speak to how well these work for that particular endeavor, but I can tell you that they make FANTASTIC crumpets. We also use them for pancakes from time to time. My son is three, and he likes to help cook. These rings make pancakes easy for him, because instead of trying to help him pour out a reasonable sized/shaped pancake onto the griddle, I give him a 1/4 cup measure and let him pour the batter into the rings. No mess, no fail.
These are a little flimsy but seem like they will hold up over time decently. I do think they need extra care in storage because they seem to warp easily. Other than that, they are exactly what I need; the diameter and height are perfect. They do stick but I found the remedy to this is to first grease the rings and then "flour" them slightly with cornmeal; just don't do the cornmeal too heavily or they slip out when flipping.
Overall, these are a great value since English Muffins are a little pricey in the grocery store but can be made at home for pennies. I'm using a modified version of Alton Brown's recipe and would highly recommend his version over the recipe included with the rings, or any rolled and cut recipe for that matter. Batters rather than doughs seem to be the way to go to get those excellent nooks and crannies.
For such simple baking rings I’m surprised how pricey they are, but these are good quality. Easy to grease, no rusting or scratching, haven’t bent or warped.
