The quality is good. Exterior "wool" is actually 85% wool / 15% nylon. Inside there is a an integrated knit lining that is 67% acrylic / 23% wool /10% nylon.
These are in that same style, heavy in construction like my old ones and do a great job keeping my hands warm. They have a nice inner liner that is closer weave than the exterior so they work in windy conditions. I would recommend these 100% for straight out hand warmth right down to the tips of your fingers and a valid protective item to guard against frostbite. Not for driving or even throwing snowballs just a great pair of hand protecting mittens. (not for fire combat as they are not certified or constructed for that purpose).
The mittens are VERY SLICK without a suede pad on the bottom, but that issue can be easily remedied by adding a thin layer of silicone caulking to the palms and letting it dry for 1 - 1&1/2 hours. (If you are short on time, you can always use a hair drying to speed up the drying time.) I added caulking to the bottoms of the palms and the inside thumb area of each mitten and can hold a slippery stainless steel water bottle between my mittens without issue and drive in safety without any concern over slippage when using the steering wheel, turning corners.
I am a female who takes a 7.5 length mitten and these were just right after I trimmed some length off of the nail on my middle finger. I have normal sized, slender type fingers and have lots of room to move them around in the mitten 'box' at the fingers.
The price is excellent for the quality of the item and you could easily purchase a second pair to keep in the trunk of your car and third pair to keep in your camping gear/BOB without breaking the bank. I purchased this item to replace a pair of mittens after I lost the right one and I am glad I did!
I would certainly purchase again if the need arises without thinking twice about buying another pair.
That being said I am a mutant. I have very long fingers & an 8' wrist so YMMV. I think over time the wristband would stretch a bit but the length is annoyingly short on me.
I like the idea of wearing thin cotton gloves under them as others have said they do, good idea! They are quite thick & bulky so I can't imagine them fitting well in coat pockets, keep this in mind if you had that idea.

If they were the right size I'd be happy with the quality but the sizing is all wrong.Read more
