It feels very solid in your hand. It doesn't feel like apiece of plastic. Feels very ergonomically. The gimbals (sticks) operate really smooth. It does seem the throttle doesn't go to 0, it seems to still have some engagement. I haven't tried trimming it yet. I will probably open it up and adjust the screws. Speaking of that - the inside of this is very clean and easy to maneuver. I broke two switches on a different one, ordered the factory replacement and put it in VERY easy.
That is a HUGE MAJOR plus in my book. You can buy factory parts for this - for everything - even down to the circuit boards. I haven't been so lucky finding parts for other radios!
OpenTX the software consortium has a great OpenTX University for learning the Taranis!
I can't say enough good things about this product!
My first Taranis I got was a dud. Throttle didn't work, but the replacement is working great so far. Amazon makes returns easy enough though.
For the price you can't beat it. More expensive comparable Futaba and Spektrum remotes don't have all those features and cost $800+. I can fly across a whole field that my university has which is around 250 Yards and the signal is still strong.
I like that this came with a pretty good sized battery. The sticks are great definitely my best transmitter.
The controller is everything that I would expect. Make sure you get a compatible receiver and I know you'll be happy with this controller. There is a learning curve for beginners.
Overall I'm super pleased with the craftsmanship. Great product.

This was my first open source RC radio. It seems to be the standard for drone racing pilots in my area. The menu is not very intuitive, but it is very versatile and very capable. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Kent B.
