Anyway, I have used both versions of this case now, I built about 30 new machines for my office using this case and overall I'm very happy with this case. There are some minor issues and it is by no means perfect, but for the money I've never been so happy with a budget case. I used standard ATX motherboards, and standard CPU coolers for i5 processors. There is room for bigger CPU coolers and the like wither reason, and cooling has been great for our normal uses. Case is quiet, looks good in the office and has been easy to build when working on getting them done too.
I like the removable hard drive tray on the side, it is unusual but works very well. I used all SSD drives and they mounted just fine, the overall build went great with no issues for room in my basic builds.
Negatives - here is a short list of what I found or noticed, remember I went through 30 or so of these cases so these were found among all of them, not just a single case!
I found three cases missing the power button on the side of the front. The button itself was there and worked, the cover was missing. I found one loose in the box, the other two were totally missing.
Two of them had a bad connector for the audio, not the HD one the secondary AC97 port. One was totally gone, another had two wires loose out of the connector. Not and issue for me as I did not use AC97 jack anyway, all other case ports were fine for all connections.Read more ›
Out of the 100+ cases we've used we have only had an issue with 1 of them. Folks, that ain't bad!
My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that the front panel audio/USB connectors are located on the side of the case, not the actual front. This has caused a couple of challenges in getting them setup in tight spots.
Word of caution - when having them shipped and if you are in the Dallas area do NOT use UPS to ship. UPS has destroyed 10+ of these cases in shipment. They arrived looking like someone had lined a dance-floor at a bunny hop with the boxes and groups of wild people jumped up and down on them. We have found that FedEx is the choice shipper in the area and can deliver these without damaging them.
FD has since come out with the Core 1100 case at the same price point, and it is beautiful. They moved the front panel audio/USB connections from the side to the front on the new design.
The case itself isn't as impressive as my define R4 (but it is a third of the price) though, the metal feels a little flimsy, and the case is not as sturdy as I expected it to be. It does feel a little cheaply made. I also had the hardest time removing the side panels. I literally sat there for 10 minutes trying to get the side panel off. Once I got it off I noticed that the steel tabs that you slide in were crooked, definitely contributing to the difficulty of getting the panel on and off. The next few times removing the side panel took me significantly less time, but it is still way more effort than it should be. Once closed, I dreaded having to open it again when I had to do troubleshooting.
The interior of the case is pretty simple. There's a removable panel on the side to mount 2 more drives. The PSU is top mounted, and since this is a smaller case it did kind of get cramped with the drive bays at the top. I had a rough time trying to do cable management but that is to be expected in a smaller form factor. There aren't any special features that aid cable management though. There's no CPU cutout, which I personally never use but I don't know why they didn't provide that extra option for those that might use it. It also has enough room to fit a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 easily.
Overall, this is a good budget case, and is a pretty good pick up when it is on sale. I wouldn't pay more than forty for it though.
If you do pick up the case, do yourself a favor and replace the case fans though, they're very noisy. Given the good thermal specs on my setup though, I just unplugged them.

Great case, looks fantastic, feels way more expensive than it is. Cooling is a dream and the removable sides mean you can easily tweak the build without disassembles everything. Read morePublished 9 days ago by Daniel J.

Case aesthetically is nice. Two downsides are hard drive/ssd mounting is horrendous and airflow is terrible even with extra fans.Published 3 months ago by John M
Tight fit for my ASUS Micro ATX DDR3 2000 AMD AM3+ Motherboard M5A78L-M/USB3. That was ok. But when I bought and installed the Zotac GTX 960 the case fan was placed so that the... Read morePublished 5 months ago by PENNAME
Pretty good, for a budget case. Did what I needed, no cable management even attempted for me with this case though. Like seriously, don't expect much cable management.Published 5 months ago by audrey yates
Installing components into it was a pain, but other than that, the case is fine.Published 5 months ago by Penpal
