Parents' Choice Silver Award All the fun to be had making butterflies, flowers, spheres, and an infinite number of other patterned designs can actually lead to improved ability and success in art, mathematics, concentration, and more! Unlike most magnets, our flexible Amazing Magnets from Fractiles are remarkably easy to maneuver around the 12" x 12" textured black steel board, and cleverly packaged in an album-styled storage case, making it a great travel toy. Fractiles Amazing Magnets include 192 fractiles and illustrated instructional material. Ages 6 and up.
Wonderful fun with symmetry! Arrange 192 magnetized plastic tiles (in yellow, red, and blue) on a 12-inch square steel activity board and discover just how many patterns and combinations are possible. (You guessed it: a lot!) The clever part is that all three shapes are types of diamonds, and their angles represent six different fractions of 360 degrees. Dozens of clever designs and pictograms are featured on the cardboard carrying case, including "Ribbon Candy," "Scrambled Mandala," and "Funky Chicken." But creating designs is only half the fun; instructions are given for several puzzles and games too, plus an explanation of different kinds of symmetry. Ideal for travel, though the tiles are probably too small for children under 6. --Richard FarrSee all Product description

The only thing I would like more would be if they gave more tiles or sold extras separately.
I have a magnetic dry erase board that we used, though I think it would be even more interesting to have a large black metal board (a small one is included in the kit) to make these designs as the colors would really pop, but the white background is adequate for my purposes at the moment. My girls create with these while I read aloud for our some of our school time. However, adults and kids alike enjoy creating with this, and both my husband and I enjoy it as do my adult children, friends, and extended family. This is a wonderfully relaxing activity that results in a lovely creation without extreme effort or interesting pattern at the very least - though much effort can be placed into it to get a much more intricate pattern as well.
For reference, in our home, children as young as 3 to those into the later years of life have enjoyed this.
It is well worth the purchase, IMO.
