This was my first ever book I got to read via netgalley, so I was really excited. I first heard about FRACTURED LIGHT on a contest with goodreads, I believe? Since then, I've really wanted to read it. The description sounded interesting and the cover made me that much more interested in reading it. I had to read this on my computer because I didn't have a kindle at the time but let me tell you, once I started reading this, it didn't matter. I finished it in a matter of hours...I just couldn't stop reading it. (It seems like I say that a lot, doesn't it?) But it's the truth - there are so many books that I read that just draw me in and don't want to let me go.

This book is about good versus evil, a very typical thing, right? We meet Llona (which I just LOVE this name, by the way) who has lost both her mother and her father so she now lives with her Uncle who is only about ten years older than her, so he's more like an older brother. Llona is an Aura, just like her mother. Aura's carry the light and they're only female. The darkness, or evil, that hunts Aura's to kill them are called Vyken's - which also killed her parents. But now there's one haunting her...

Llona is so different from any other Aura, including her mother. Aura's don't fight and they never have the urge to fight but Llona wants to fight, she feels it in her blood. She wants to learn how to use the light as a weapon. The amount of willpower and fight Llona has is very encouraging. Woman empowerment. I've read a lot of YA books and I have to say, she would be one of my top role models, if I had to choose.

Christian, a new boy at school suddenly becomes someone of interest not just for the reader but for Llona. But so does the brand new math teacher Mr.

I have to say that this book did not live up to what I would have expected. I don't give half stars, but if I did I would probably give it 2.5 stars. So I'm torn between a 2 and 3 here on Goodreads. The premise of this book had lots of potential but I feel the execution was fairly poor.

If you know me, you know I love my covers. So it's not surprise that I was totally drawn in by this one. I love the look of it, how it shows the light which is so important to the story. But I have to say that the cover, while beautiful, was rather a misleading draw into the book.

The lead character, Llona, carries light within her because she's an Aura. This "power" basically gives her more strength than others. It is more prominent during a full moon. I thought Llona would be a strong, independent character who basically kept to herself. But she wasn't strong at all. As a matter of fact, I found her to be rather dependent and a bit on the whiny side. I have to say that she annoyed me more than anything else during this book. Had she really been keen on learning what her power was for and how to use it, I think I would have liked her much better. But she spent most of the book pining after a boy and telling us how private she was but doing things like joining the basketball team. She was contradictory and just made no sense to me.

Christian was the love interest. While I liked him for the most part, he drove me a bit batty as well. He was strong and rather silent, but he seemed like he had a lot of loyalty towards Llona. However, he had this push and pull to him that drove me bonkers. He sent total mixed signals to Llona and it annoyed me to no end. I wanted to shake him and tell him to make up his mind.

A classic tale of good vs. evil with a unique twist. A girl with special abilities hiding from a monster that wants to devour her. A boy that protects her, but can't protect his heart. An evil being in the guise of a trusted acquaintance. Magic, mystery, friendship and star-crossed lovers- this book has it all.
I really enjoyed Fractured Light. The storyline hooked me from the beginning and the characters stole my heart. Llona is forced to be introverted because of her circumstance, and her growth and development throughout the book was heartwarming. Christian is strong, protective and gorgeous- the makings of a fabulous book boyfriend- all while trying to deny his feelings for the one thing he wants the most. May is a good friend with secrets of her own that bond the two outcasts together.
Though the identity of the predatory bad guy seemed evident from the beginning, I found myself second guessing that theory several times. I love it when a book keeps me guessing!
The writing are clear and concise, the characters well-developed and endearing. The story is, for the most part, fast paced and intriguing. There's mystery, suspense, danger, love, friendship, strong familial bonds, and the threat of something terrible taking everything away. Great book- 4-1/2 Stars.

Llona is not a typical high school senior. No, she is an of the people of light, where she can pass on calming and good to whomever she touches. Her mother and father are dead, and she lives with her uncle Jake. They have settled in a house that butts up to a mountain, where Llona can burn off some power if it builds too high.

She has managed to keep quiet and stay in the background at school with few friends. But, she meets Christian and it all changes. He's different from the other guys, and Llona finds herself wishing for closer friendships.

But, she is being stalked. A Vyken is out to kill her. This monster wants to suck the light right out of her. She discovers that Christian has been sent as her guardian, and she learns they cannot be more than friends, as it's against the rules. Bummer.

Can Llona save her friends that are being used as pawns? Will she live to go to the school her mother and aunt went to? How did her parents really die?? Will she suffer the same fate?? If you want, answers read the book.

Read on my friends. It's real good.
