I don't really know how I feel about this book. I found it extremely slow, and very boring at times. I often considered not finishing it, but I have a weird thing where I feel like if I start a book I must finish it. I couldn't really connected with any of the characters. Raven is young and still trying to find out who she is, but it just drove me crazy how naive she was. Plus, she gets so obsessed over Lark's journal that she basically put all her needs on hold. Umm, maybe a source of income might be nice before you start chasing clues all around the city. For a rich girl, I kind of liked Lark, but again her character is forgettable. I feel like the hole love story between Lark and Blake give people an unrealistic picture of what a real relationship is like.
Overall I find this book forgettable and not something I would even remember after a month. However, I will say the ending has a twist that left me intrigued and contemplating whether I'm willing to suffer through the next book to see where it leads.
I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
When given the chance to read a free copy of this book I jumped at the opportunity since I absolutely loved Sophie Davis' Talented series. The book was definitely full of mystery and intrigue from beginning to end and kept me on my toes. The book grabbed my attention from the beginning and throughout the book I was constantly trying to piece together what happened to Lark and what was going to happen next. I have numerous theories, but I have a feeling that none of them come close to what is really going on. I would have liked the pace to have been faster and have had more questions answered by the end of the book, but as the first book of the series I understand that a foundation needs to be laid for the next books. It ended with a cliffhanger, so I am dying to see what the next book in the series brings.
