So we met Pam is book one of the Sensations Collections, although we didn't really get to know her all that well. We meet her again in book two and we get to know her a little better. In book two you can feel the attraction she has for Jacob Vincent, Ella's uncle.
Jacob. We meet him in book two as the very protective uncle and Pam's flirtatious boss. In this boo we get to see just how damaged both he and Pam are. Jacob a little more so because his not so great childhood and the things he witnessed in his young adult life.
I really enjoyed the growing relationship that Jacob and Pam had during this book. You could feel their mutual attraction and the protective nature that Jacob had turned on Pam. I loved his need to defend her and the fact that he was having trouble keeping it "professional". All it took for this story to kick off and head in the right direction was a little case of the flu and a day of being snowed in.
I am such a fan of LB's writing and with each book I have seen her ability as an author grow. She writes beautiful stories that are filled with emotion and make you fall head over heals in love with the characters. I look forward to more from this series and more from LB period. If you haven't read any of the Sensations Collection you should accept my Sound Advice and give this series a Taste Test ;) I will have to work Fragrance Free into that somehow.
This world has captured me, and I am looking forward to reading Sound Advice and Taste Test. As all books can be read as a stand alone, it is okay to go backwards. However, after reading the whole series, I really would suggest reading it in order. The intricate details mean so much more reading it in order. I admit, I re-read this one after I read Sound Advice and Taste Test.
If you are hesitating on buying this book or the series, don't. These books are written in a way that the classics were - refined, perfect balance of description and storyline, and a world that you could actually picture living in with these characters right down the street. LB Dunbar is one of my go-to authors. I will read anything she writes.
A great story so well told that it just puts you all in your feelings. Abuse is abuse whether it is physical, emotional, or verbal it's wrong. When it guides everything you do as an adult it's worse. Some end up ghost of themselves and need reason or help to change that reality to become a survivor. I love these characters and this author develops them well and just makes your heart burst with their pain and their success.
