The good: The author can write.
The bad: There were hints of this, but then at about the halfway point the author's agenda became very clear. It was like watching one of those very bad commercials. You know the ones where all is doom and gloom and no one can do anything right until they buy the product and then everything is wonderful and perfect. This is how the whole book unfolded. The Catholic characters were the doom and gloom and the Protestant characters were the wonderful and perfect. Once the Catholic characters bought into the Protestant faith their lives became so much better immediately which of course is misleading. Conversion in any faith is not immediate, takes time and is a continuous, lifelong process. The book is also full of inaccuracies concerning the Catholic faith. The author is obviously not a Catholic and evidently didn't research the Catholic faith. She writes that Catholics don't have personal relationships with God, don't read the Bible, and other misinformation throughout which I won't list because I have spent way too much time on this book already. I don't like leaving bad reviews and I don't think I've ever given one this harsh, but if someone is going to write a book they should know the subject or thoroughly research it.
