About the Author
I (Kim Holden) live in the greatest city in the world: Denver, Colorado. Some of my favorite things: reading, writing, the two coolest guys on the planet (my husband and son), my bicycle, Facebook, iced coffee, and music. I also love dreaming. And speaking of dreaming, I have a bit of advice for anyone reading this ... follow your dreams. It's never too late. Get started today ... heck get started RIGHT NOW! Make your dreams reality. I love to hear from fellow readers. Love. It. Please come find me. We'll hang out. It'll be fun: Facebook https://www.facebook.com/KimHoldenAuthor Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7445352.Kim_Holden My Website https://kimholdenbooks.com

“God bless the w***ers.”
Kim Holden only knows how to “Do Epic” and Franco is no different. Franco is the drummer in Rook, Gus’s band and though he has been mentioned throughout this series we have never actually really got to know him. Gus has a great taste in friends and band mates and there was nothing about Franco I did not like. In fact, he was adorable.
“These tears are love. Don’t ever apologize for that.”
Franco is not your average rock star, especially when it comes to women. He has a type, a type that doesn’t come along very often. In the circles he treads the women are superficial something that Franco is immune to. Franco likes his women honest, modest and with a personality.
Gemma was a northern lass from England with a spit fire personality to match. Gemma was fun with a capital F, but not in your face. She was intelligent, and was coming to the end of a yearlong work project as an architect. Gemma was in her late twenties and had her life mapped out, but she didn’t bet on meeting Franco.
“…I believe that dreams fuel life. And it’s when you’re chasing them that you’re most alive. There’s no reward in settling for the safety of status quo.”
When these two meet, the chemistry is instant, you literally feel those sparks flying off the page, and a lifelong friendship is born. Both Franco and Gemma know that their time together is limited, both leery to let their hearts get involved, but sometimes when a chemistry is that strong and that intense, the heart makes up the mind.
“I think the best sex is a mixture of harmony and discord. A battle within the bliss. Because anything that feels this damn good should make you want to work your a** off for it. Chase it. Sweat for it. Force your muscles to burn for it. Make your lungs gasp for it. When we come, I want to feel like we’ve effing earned it.”
I’m not going to say anymore because you need to experience all those emotions first hand for yourself, but as with any Kim Holden read she nails that character connection which only intensifies everything that you read. Franco and Gemma came to life with some fantastic dialogue that had me laughing one minute and swooning the next. These two together were a perfect match and Kim Holden portrayed that perfectly.
“…I genuinely miss her friendship. A ten-day bond that felt more like ten years strong. Unexpected.”
The friendship between Gus and Franco was adorable and seeing these two interact lit up every scene that they were in. That camaraderie, friendship and mutual hero worship had me once again laughing one minute and smiling from ear to ear the next. Every single scene with these two killed me in a good way.
“If I setup a go**amn Pinterest account, I want you to punch me in the effing face.”
My only niggle, I would have loved to have known more about Franco and Gemma before they met to get that background info that I crave. This book does move at the rate of knots, is relatively short and is predictable, but this was not about the predictability of the plot, this was all about the journey. Yes, I knew it was going to happen but it didn’t make it any less enjoyable when I got there. As with any Kim Holden book the power of positivity is woven throughout and it is this that really brings this book together. We all learned our lesson in the first book…always look on the Bright Side. Franco is a book boyfriend that is going to be on a lot of peoples lists after reading this. He was perfect, he was adorable, just like this book.
I had no idea what to expect from Franco. I knew he was the likable, funny drummer from Rook who tries not to take himself to seriously. I chose to go into this book blind, as I did with Bright Side and Gus. I wanted to have zero preconceived expectations. All I knew is that I was downright giddy for this book, and let me tell you, it was everything!!! If you're a Kim Holden fan, you will adore this book!!
I really don't want to divulge to much information in my review. I think readers will love Gemma and the unconventional relationship between her and Franco. Gemma is every one of us. Every female who longs to make her dreams come true but trips over speed bumps along the way. Her drive, her wit, how she's so apologetically herself and her independence are something to be admired.
Franco will leave you melting into a puddle on the floor. I assure you, he will be your new favorite book boyfriend. Just like Gus, Franco is just so GOOD. He just means well for everyone he cares about, keeps his inner circle tight, is hilarious, and his level of swoon will ruin you for a long time!
I absolutely loved seeing so much of Gus in this book. Their banter was literally laugh out loud funny and the Home Depot chapter was the absolute best! The epilogue though has left me reeling in emotions... but in the best, most nostalgic way ever!
Some people have said this book was predictable. Aren't most books? Yes, I was anticipating what was to come from early on, but that took nothing away from the story. It's not the destination, but the journey. And this journey definitely delivers. If I could rate this book more than 5 stars, I would!!
This book this author I swear I know every time it will be good. Kim Holden pours her soul into her books. Her sweet disposition shows in every word. I hang onto to those words like they are my lifeline. They help me breathe.
We first catch a glimpse of Franco in Bright Side. He's the drummer for Rook. He has such a free spirited soul. He believes life is what you make of it. You grab destiny by the horns and make it your...well you know. One night he's out at a bar and spots a beautiful girl in leopard print flats sitting across from a guy who seems very uninterested in sitting across from this beauty. Doing what all humans do Franco watches them. He finally captures the girls attention and learns her name is Gemma. Gemma is a British girl with a pure soul. Shes a people pleaser yet lays her soul out for all to see without any apologies. She's on a timeline and won't be deterred. When Franco learns her secrets he sets out to make Gemmas dreams a reality. Hearts get involved.
This book made me smile and made me laugh. So much so that those around me looked at me funny. Mainly my kids. I kept wanting everyone to leave me in silence so I could live in this world and amazingly I devoured it in a day! I refuse to give anything away other than please read Bright Side and Gus beforehand. Bright Side alone is a life changer. Kudos to you Kim Holden for hitting another ball out the park and yes assumptions are the antichrist.
This one was a little different, although there were some tears even to the point I couldn't see my kindle there was a lot of laughter , especially when Gus and Franco were together. Also the interaction between Gemma and Franco was really fun to see. I loved their journey, and i absolutely love these characters. Franco is the perfect guy to fall in love with.
