This is a review for the "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" album of "I, Frankenstein" on CD.
The disc contains a total of 13 tracks. Most have vocals. The first 10 are performed by "By Maker". Track 11 is performed by "8mm". Track 12 is performed by "Justin Lassen". And the final track, 13, is performed by "Geno Lenardo (of By Maker) and Prashant Aswani".
I liked all of the tracks except the last, a remake of Edgar Winter's famous instrumental "Frankenstein". I think the original by Winters is much better and I didn't care for the remake on this album.
Unfortunately, I found the album tiring. This was disappointing because I like the movie a lot and hoped this soundtrack album would live up to it. By Maker seems to have great potential but their music here seems constrained---particularly the vocals---and, after you've listened to the album once, it becomes repetitious. 8mm and Justin Lassen provide welcome relief.
My advice is to avoid buying the album unless you are a serious fan. Rather, just buy an mp3 of the two or three songs that you like best. There is a second "I, Frankenstein" album (also available on CD) that contains the instrumental "Original Motion Picture Score" by Johnny Klimek and Reinhold Heil that I think is much better.
