Delivery time a bit slow. This model lacks the "?" button that allowed one to search without knowing the full spelling of a word, a feature I found very useful on my older model. Good for the price if you have some language skills and want a quick refresh on basic terms or for a newbie that does not care about hearing a language but merely writing words and recognizing the written language. 5 language in 1 is great. Since I have a solid grasp of French, I practice by searching for German terms translated to French to stay sharp in French while adding German vocabulary. Many more basic terms should be in the vocabulary list. However it has a good amount of terms for one to quickly lookup. NO look up by phrase, you look up a single word and it displays phrases with a match and matches for varied definitions of the word. There is some room for misspelling but, you'll need to be very close to get the word that you want translated. I'd say if you can afford it, get a multi translator with sound and perhaps picture learning for many terms and with phrase category selection like hotel or shopping or tools and workshop for targeted learning.

When I worked at a hardware store and in customer service I could pull this out to understand a word in spanish or german that I did not know from a customer. I really like the random word generating game mode to build or maintain vocabulary. It also has hangman. I have apps for languages on my phone but this dedicated guy is quicker for single term lookup and the apps don't always have the game modes or even individual word search or glossary section to search. Franklin, I recommend for this product in the future to quickening scrolling to one word per button push instead of one letter at a time or allow continuous scroll with button hold. Put back the "?" and typing "a??" brings up app and all and are and abs etc. Lastly I say improve phrase search.

I bought it expecting it would help me in my study of Mexican Spanish. I do like the word games. But am unable to use it to translate words and phrases that are not in the directory, from either S-E or E-S. Maybe you have another item to suggest that would meet my needs? Cdd

Not disappointed with Amazon, they are awesome, but rather the product. Bought it to use in Mexico while on vacation for 6 months. Pulled the tab out from the battery slot and it worked fine for about 20 minutes, then died. Bought a new battery thinking maybe it was dead, to no avail- unit does still not work. I am bummed.
