pros: uses standard international cartridges, has a nice medium-thickness line, good weight and overall quality feel

cons: requires a little priming when it has sat for a few hours (nothing serious, just a lick of the tip or a little scribble). Some of my better quality fountain pens can sit for weeks and still write beautifully with the first stroke.

The pen is solid, has a good feel to it, and looks nice. If the manufacturer had only included just a single cartridge, or indicated somewhere that a regular-length converter or cartridge will not fit it, then I would have been saved so much trouble. It appears to me that only SHORT cartridges will work in this pen---according to the instructions, only international-sized ones---and the Monteverde converter no. 31076 will most definitely not work in this pen. At least not the version of the pen I received. I am unable to report on how well the nib writes, because I am trying to return the converter and buy the right cartridges. It shouldn't be this hard to figure out how to get ink in a pen.

This is my first fountain pen, but after doing a lot of reading online, and using a disposable fountain pen for a few days, I am impressed.

I use this ink in it [...] (Monteverde Internatinal Size Cartridge to Fit Fountain Pens, Blue, 6 per Pack) and I couldn't be happier.

It writes well, doesn't bleed through normal cheap paper, and dries quickly. It took a little while to get the ink flowing, but after reading the reviews of this pen before buying it, it's what I expected.

For such an inexpensive pen it has a heavy metel barrel and good medium nib. Even though the pen appears to be manufactured by Cross it only takes the international size refill cartridges. However the barrel is too short to store an extra, so I would suggest getting some of the extra long cartridges that some of the manufacturers make.

This pen worked for about 5 days. After which it did not write consistently (I had to unscrew it and squeeze the ink to get the flow going), the pen leaked around the fingers and over time the cap would not remain attached to the end of the pen. I do not recommend this pen, spend a few more bucks for a higher quality instrument.

Nowhere in the pen brochure does it state the type of ink cartridge to use.
I purchased a pack of Cross ink cartridges...but wrong type.
I then looked at prev. reviews..and someone noted the Monteverde cartridges. Thanks for that.
The pen has a very nice feel to it.
I look forward to trying it out soon.

Some of the reviews said their pen didn't come with ink, but mine did. It was easy to install and the pen works great. I did get some Monteverde International size ink cartridges (someone else mentions those worked best in another review) and they look exactly the same as the cartridge that came with the pen, so I believe those will be a nice fit.

Well I know it's not the pen's fault, but... 2 stars...

It says 'cartridges.' Notice it does not say 'converters.' I am frustrated that this $20 pen accepts only cartridges, not converters, which are too long, and sometimes too wide to fit into the pen. I have since had to learn that a cartridge is the disposable type of fountain pen ink refill, and converters draw the ink from a bottle and are reusable. I will look for the word 'converter' in my future pen shopping.

I am not impressed by its balance, though it is OK. And the finish is nice and classy. I regret spending the $20. I have bought pens i prefer for less.

hope this helps.
