I got the intermediate set. We have had a couple of different croquet sets over the years. We found this one to be average to low in quality. I am concerned with how well these would hold up if we were to store them in the bag after every use. When screwing them together some of the threads are chipped and some of the holes aren't drilled out very well. I think this mostly has to do with inferior wood as there's a lot of chipped pieces. Several of the mallets need quite a bit of force to get screwed together.
So for the price of 26 bucks I'm not thrilled with these. They'll do but we have to leave them assembled which defeats the purpose of having a storage bag. I think that's what has me most frustrated with this set. Storing them has become a burden. I wish I had shopped around and purchased one with the storage rack. On the bright side I don't have to worry about my four children ruining a nice croquet set. SMH
This one might make it through 2 summers if we're lucky.

DO NOT BUY!
I purchased these knowing full well they were a cheap backyard set to have some fun with on the rare occasion the party called for croquet. We didn't even get to the second hit before the one of the handles broke. Halfway through the game we were down to 3 mallets. By the end of the game- the mallet heads were rendered useless, handles broken, balls dented. We weren't playing out of hand or being destructive with the equipment. They are just pieces of trash. Worst waste of money you can spend. Can't even complete a game. I can't urge Amazon enough to remove these from their offering.

This is the cheapest set I've seen in awhile. There is some kind of wood filler in a knot in the mallet. There are also splits in the ends of the mallets. All this was before they were even used. After use there are lots of dents in the mallets. I do not recommend this set at all. No kids used this set

This product looks good at a glance but has poor quality especially for the price. The carrying bag had a 6 inch whole in the seam. The wood mallets are made with soft wood. Two of the poles came with a split in the length of it which will make them break easily with little pressure. One of the mallet polls would not screw into the whole of the head all the way. I bought this as a gift for my sons birthday party so when he opened it, despite its poor condition we played with it anyway. The finish on the painted balls and the stained mallets got dented and gashed up in one days play. Ironically the metal wickets are extremely strong and sturdy. They would last a lifetime unfortunately nothing else will. We are extremely disappointed by the poor quality of this product.

This is a well made set and we will enjoy it for years I am sure. Our only problem is the size of the wickets. It has a very narrow opening and makes it very hard for the little folks to be successful players without a lot of exasperation. And, I will admit I have experienced some also. But, that said, the wickets are the best quality ones we have ever seen.

I was impressed with the workmanship on all pieces of this Classic set. This set should last forever and pass down through generations! All handles screwed in straight and tight. I saw no blemishes. The balls were heavy just like wooden balls. I paid about $20 for this set and it is an incredible value!

Croquet set is a bit of a disappointment. The wood is low grade and most certainly will not hold up to a day of grown men with beers rocketing victim balls across the lawn. The balls and mallets don't seem to be standard sized. I suppose the set would be good for children, but for adults, everything seems miniature. The balls are small don't compare to the heavy wood balls of my childhood set. On the plus, everything fit together correctly and arrived in good condition. And Amazon delivered the set to my house in southern Mexico for free. Great job Amazon.

Purchased this in (Late May, the 25th) time for Fourth of July, unfortunately opened the box on the 3rd of July to try them out. First contact with the ball and the plastic ends of the mallet started to rip and split, the next few contacts resulted in more destruction. We were not abusing the product it is just the quality....POOR..... I want to return them but Amazon says it's my mistake, it has been more than a month since I purchased them. They are definitely not worth buying

High quality components, reminds me of the set I grew up with, BUT the bag is undersized to hold the assembled mallets. Ok if you don't mind assembling them every time you play.

This set looked nice, but is poorly constructed. The screws holding handles to mallet heads are 1/4" and should be at least 1/2". 5 of 6 mallets went flying off the handles as the screws stripped away in the first few hits. It's possible the balls are way too heavy for the mallets, too. One could glue on the handles, but the carrying case only holds the set if it is all completely taken apart. Also, one of the mallets heads cracked, with an outer layer falling off in the first game. The handles are too long for most players.If you are a serious player, don't buy this.
