So the story moves along at a cracking pace, but the characters themselves are believable, with their dialog not seeming forced or over the top. In terms of the story I was kept intrigued the whole way through and marveled at how the seemingly unconnected parts of the plot were coming together. My only criticism of the novel would be that I didn't feel that what was a major plot line was not resolved - I wanted to know what happened (and I won't give any spoilers here). There was also an incident which affects the main character which was also left unanswered and these - very minor - criticisms are what make my score as given above. But otherwise the story was very satisfying through the complete read.
As a final note, I found that there was also a greater sense of story since it was set in Sydney, and while I'm not from Sydney I visit there regularly and know many of the places which are described. This small fact leads to a small but possibly understated extra enjoyment of it. Definitely recommended to those that enjoy a fast paced and exciting crime thriller.
Fantastic work Katherine, please write faster!
The storyline was so implausible and the characterisation so unbelievable.
I mean what mother would impersonate a health worker and go through hundreds of housing units in an attempt to find her kidnapped child. What mother would kidnap a doctor and end up torturing him and killing him aided and abetted by her lover? Sorry it was just so ridiculous that I will not be downloading any more of her books.
