This has to be a close contender for favourite book of the series right beside Connected. I really liked Ben when I first read bout him and Dahlia. I felt so sad for him after reading Torn and was so excited about the release of his story.

Okay, he was a bad boy and cheated on Dahlia, let’s all move on from that major stuff up. He made a drunken foolish mistake with lasting consequences for S’Belle that he had no inkling about.

Now he is alone. Dahlia has moved on, married to River Wilde and he now has to get on with his life. He falls into a bit of a drinking and sleeping with women pattern in Blurred but has now decided that lifestyle is no longer for him.

The one thing he can’t get out of his head is Belle Wilde (S’Belle). He is not alone in his thoughts, she feels the same way. After seeing each other out and about they give in to their desire and come to an agreement.

I love how this slow building relationship really cements them to each other. Of course, nothing is simple in Ben’s life and he is left completely blown away when Belle confesses something she has kept from him for years. He has had so much sorrow in his life and I felt so sad for him and desperately wanted him to finally find happiness and love.

Having a relationship could cause problems with Belle's family and make things awkward for them.

When you find 'the one' there is no one or anything that can stop what is meant to be. I think that fate brought these two into each other's lives and if they can hold on tight to each other, it will be a beautiful thing.

I continue my journey on the Connections Series and Frayed is book 4 with some novellas intermixed in there too. Frayed is Ben Covington’s story and he’s had a bit of a crazy ride in the novels previous to this. Kim Karr gives us a different second chance story, a second chance with a girl and a second chance with the way his life is going to go.

Ben has been a bit of a mess and basically lost everything – his fiancé, his work, his self worth and his mom. With the things he had going on it’s a bit expected he would get a little lost though. Ben is a smart, surfer guy, with a mouth like a sailor (which I find endearing). In Frayed he is working to get his head back on straight and be the person he was meant to be before all the craziness happened in his life.

Bell or S’bell is an eager to please young woman looking for her passion in the world. She’s a fireball and has been protected by her family as the youngest and only girl and is looking to prove to her family she can stand on her own two feet.

The characters of the Connections Series are relatable, even when some of their problems are not day-to-day, we can still easily understand their emotions. Ben is a character that will make you laugh, swoon, and route for. Bell is a character that makes you proud, makes you smile, and sometimes you just want to high-five her for the brazen courage Ben makes her feel.

I have loved each of the character from this series and as the books continue to be released you only see more of those bonds in the written word. I am glad that Dahlia and Ben have been able to get to a place where they reformed a friendship and can look to one another for guidance.

For a while now it has been pretty clear that Ben and Bell would be getting together. In Frayed Kim Karr finally explores the potential of this reunion. Usually you want the main characters in a story to have as smooth sailing as possible and any hiccup in the happily ever after can be anxiety inducing and heart breaking. In this case, after the couple's first encounter, I was glad that there were some bumps in the road, that things didn't neatly fall into place for them, and that there was some deliberation as to whether to really pursue something. Pairing Ben and Bell seems like an uphill battle for the author from the start, but the way that these two dealt with a possible relationship, taking into account not just their feelings but their loved ones' as well, and the reality of the outcome of the first encounter rounded things out and helped Ben and Bell's story come together in a fitting and satisfying way.

I wasn't always rooting for Ben and Bell to get together. It's hard to champion a relationship when it starts under some pretty unsavory circumstances, but Kim Karr does a good job of drawing you in to the here and now. It's much easier to accept Ben and Bell knowing that Dahlia has moved on and is far happier in the end and after a while it becomes easier to see these two as any other couple with a bit of a past and a powerful connection. As unlikely as it seemed to begin with, I found I was surprisingly glad they got a second chance after all.

Kim Karr uses the same magic that made us fall fast and hard for River and Dahlia to transform any previous feelings of distaste or loathing for Ben and Bell into actual compassion and concern for them and their future. Do I really love either of these characters?
