I have read a few reviews about this item but given the price I figured I’d try it myself, after all, sometimes you just need to experiment with something to know if it’s truly a bad design or operator error.
Having tried several methods before writing this, I can conclude that this is a fun product idea absolutely designed in a non functional manner that makes it worthless.
Seriously, you would be better advised to take your money and burn it than to buy this product. At least if you did that you might be able to film it and post it to YouTube for some cash.
The problem with this design is that it’s a mold to hold eggs and cook them. The idea being that the white section of the egg makes the face while the yolks are held in place by the eye sections. This would possibly work in theory is the mold stayed flush to the pan. It does not. There eye sockets set higher than the face. Your first idea would be to just fill the entire face with the white portion of the egg, let it cool and then add the yokes. This was my initial few tests. This didn’t work. The eggs spill out of the form. That’s ok as long as some stay that’s fine. But adding the holes now makes the cooking off and you end up with eggs that spill into one another making for a outer frame that resembles a robot but nothing more. (A few tries later and this method is just not suitable ).
Method two, I then trimming the two tabs on the mouth section to hopefully turn this mold upside down and make it more flush to the pan. This sounded promising. It was not. Similar method and lowered the temp a touch to adjust for timing. Tried a similar method, applying the whites first then the yokes, though I did these rather close together, timing wise. The mold will require two eggs, the content of which will be too thick to cook quickly. Even adjusting for temp. You will still have issues with the mold holding shape enough to keep the eggs in place. Billed through of the contents will result in the same issue of a final messy result. My next attempt was similar but this time trying to add some water outside the mold and steam it. This helped but made the egg taste like garbage. And the process of remolding these was next to impossible resulting in a egg that looks nothing like a robot.
I wasted an entire package of eggs trying to find some redeemable quality for this mold. There is none. Again, save your money and buy a toy or something. These products are poorly designed and should be avoided.
