These cards lay sealed up, completely unopened in my home for 2 weeks because, frankly, they were an impulse buy & the third deck of cards I had purchased in the last month and I absolutely do not need them AT ALL—so I was sending them back—but the box is sooo cute—
So, about 30 minutes ago I gave into temptation, tore off the plastic wrap & removed the prettiest set of cards EVER, and I don’t regret it one bit, because even if I never use them, I 💯 guarantee I’ll take them out of the box to look at them on a regular basis (Lolz).
I searched for “pretty deck of cards”, and these do not disappoint 💕
Beautiful, unique, quality deck of cards right here—and better in person than can ever be advertised in a photo.
So glad I just HAD to see inside the little black box!

Fredericks & Mae is the art/design team of Jolie Mae Signorile and Gabriel Fredericks Cohen. The two met through a shared love for materials - Fredericks & Mae started in the piles of feathers, thread, gold and paper that decorated their first studio in 2007. Their collaborative practice has since evolved into a series of objects for the home, garden and sky. Fredericks & Mae is a material anthropology of objects with confused origins. The cards are just stunning. They're neither plastic nor the usual bicycle paper stock, but they're a plastified paper (thinner than cardboard even) but if you're buying these you're probably not planning to play Texas hold 'em with them, let's be honest here. They're just something pretty to look at and shuffle in your hands.
The pips (the little icons on the cards for those not familiar with the term) are not arranged in the traditional manner so they are even fun to look at, hearts and clubs end up looking more like a kaleidoscope of shapes or flowers than the usual square arrangement of regular cards.
My only complaint is that I wish the backs were more colorful, the grey backs are pretty dull. Also wish they'd used plastic so they would last a little longer. But I bought 2 decks just in case one wears down too quickly. I might get some plastic sleeves (the kind they use for magic the gathering) to protect them and strengthen them for real gaming.
I really wish they'd bring the Blue version of the cards to Amazon, that's Currently exclusive to WarbyParker (which doesn't ship international) so anyone not in the US (or not interested in getting glasses) is screwed.

I'm really happy with my purchase. I originally saw this product at the MoMA Design Store in NYC, but I didn't buy it. However, I changed my mind a couple of days later and was glad to discover they were available here. The packaging is a little bit bigger than that of your average deck. However, it's quite sturdy, and the entire deck is well protected inside. The cards are pure eye-candy! They come in a rainbow color scheme, with some interesting symbol arrangements starting the 4 of each suit. Also, the joker cards contrast nicely with the rest of the deck because they're black and white respectively. Inside the box, there's a small booklet that offers some interesting information about the origin of playing cards, as well as the rules for several card games. If you want a deck of cards that will spark up a conversation, this is, without a doubt, an excellent choice!

Just so beautiful. The first (and likely last) time I’ll hunt down a deck of cards online. Saw at a friend’s house and just had to have some of my own. Adds another dimension to card games.
