I bought this book to read on vacation and ended up suffering from a wicked book hanger. I simply couldn't put it down. Seriously.
Every once in awhile you come across a book that resonates with you. "Free Falling" is one of these books. Perhaps it's because I identify with the main character. Perhaps it's because "Free Falling" is NYT-worthy writing. Or maybe it's because the dialogue is snappy, the writing is spot-on, and the author captures what it's like to be a twenty-something trying to cut the apron strings that bind her to family and tradition, and must blaze her own path in this scary, unforgiving world of adulthood.
Free Spaulding is headstrong, driven, and savvy. She's trying to navigate that balance between being the dutiful daughter and the savvy business owner of her late father's Jamaican restaurant. As a real estate developer, Christopher Bellamy is tenacious, rich, and hell-bent on making his own way in the world no matter the cost. And what's at stake is not only Free's family restaurant, but her heart. There's a fine line between love and hate, and whenever these former lovers-now-enemies encounter each other, it fuels a passion that's impossible to ignore. When secrets that drove them apart surface, Christopher and Free must face the ultimate test and decide what's best for their families, business, and each other.
I highly recommend "Free Falling." If you like smart, sassy women, sexy-as-sin guys, and award-worthy writing, then this book is for you.
Now I know we hvn't heard the last of these people, but by then I do hope that when Cyrus & Jessica strike again Free, Christopher and others are not so easily manipulated..stay true to the people they hv become and fight with all they have.
Well written, slower paced than most, no over the top salacious sex scenes, good character development but no POV from Christopher.
Very good story I originally borrowed but will now purchase. 👍
