This is a prequel film to the Free! Iwatobi Swim Club anime. It takes place when Haru and Makoto are starting middle school (if you've seen season 1, which I recommend doing, it takes place before Rin visits from Australia and races Haru). Rin is mentioned and appears in flashbacks, but otherwise this story revolves around Haru, Makoto, and two new middle school teammates: Ikuya and Asahi.

The case includes a DVD version, Blu-Ray version, and a funimation digital access code which I really appreciated. Both English and Japanese audio is available, and English subtitles can be turned on and off on all versions. To my pleasant surprise there was also a mini art book included in the case.

If you love sports animes, slice-of-life animes, and/or character dramas, you'll love the Free! series, and this movie is no exception!

I thought this one would have rin, actually this takes place in their middle school days. It's not bad just a suprise. Definitely would the series before hand. Anyone who doesn't know that's 3 seasons so far and has 2 more movies. One that was never dubbed I think. This one is!
