Kindle Fire owners have been frustrated with not being able to receive blogs on the Kindle Fire as they can with their other Kindle devices. With this app, the problem is solved as it is optimized for your Kindle Fire as well as other Android-based tablets and phones.
Michael Gallagher is the author of several bestselling Kindle “how-to” guides, and his title “Free Kindle Books and How to Find Them” has been the #1 Kindle reference guide for over two years, garnering #53 and #72 on the Top 100 Kindle bestseller lists in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
This app has saved me so much money and provided so many apps and books which really helps to keep me from breaking the bank account. Best of all, it includes the descriptions/summaries for the selected products. I especially appreciate that it usually lists the genre and Amazon review rating, which enables me to quickly identify the items I'm interested in.
At that point I click on those which pique my curiosity to reach the Amazon page and analyze in more detail, especially scanning.negative reviews, and select those I wish to "purchase". I use other sources as well but this is my daily go-to app for filling my Fire.
Especially helpful is that the author almost always has read the books or used the apps he recommends and only picks from ratings of 4 stars or above, unlike so many other sources.
And don't forget the tips, especially if you want to get the most out of you device, they are invaluable. You can search his website to find previous tips as well.
Also always keep in mind that Amazon and authors can change pricing at ANY time, so heed the bloggers warning and verify the pricing before you click the buy option.
Now you can take all that money you saved and get that item you couldn't cost-justify. Win-win!
PS - My Fire has hundreds of apps and books as I read at least 5 per week and use my Fire all the time.
Yes, I know that it is easy to look for free books all on your own. Yes there are other apps out there that direct you to free books in all genres.
Now, I downloaded this app when I first got my Kindle Fire this past May. I use it everyday. It gives me options for books to download. This app deals with 4 and 5 star reviewed books. the author of this app's blog actually reviews many of these books, instead of just taking the Amazon reviews at face value.
Heck, the app is free, easy to use, updated several times a day, and a valuable resource for finding free books on Amazon. He also publishes lists at least once a month sending people to complete lists of Amazon free books in allthe genres. You get to peruse the lists and pick what you want to download and read.
He also answers questions on how to operate the Kindle family of devices on subjects that can be confusing for the newbie to downloading books for your Kindle's.
Get this app, check out his blog, and check out his other apps and books for the Kindle. Well worth it!
Added bonus for me, he is based in my hometown, Houston!
I just got a new KindleFire HD, and needed some pointers. The tips have been very useful. The KindleFire HD I bought replaced the original KindleFire I owned, but that device will be a gift for my wife for Christmas. I was hoping to get some ideas about getting my books and things transferred to my new KindleFire HD, and clearing out the old KindleFire for my wife. I found some of the information helpful, but still have a few questions. I wonder if I should reregister it in her name, and whether we would both be able to continue enjoying the benefits of Prime then, or be better off leaving it in my name? .... questions like that. But I did read the whole book the first day I got it.
I downloaded this app with a "Let's give this a shot, but its probably pointless" mindset. I know how to find free books, you just click 'free books' on Amazon Bookstore, then 'search.' Bingo, an entire list of free books. Why do I need this?
I was wrong. This app is a link to a blog that has lists of free books that are updated daily, all highly rated. I actually use this app every morning to check for deals. I used to own 5 digital books, now I've got upwards of 24, most of them free. And I've only been using this app for about 2 months. Sorry if this review sounds like a paid advertisement, but I have to give credit where credit is due.
Thank you for making this app available, I no longer randomly search for books anymore. You've turned a casual past-time into an avid addiction! Kudos.
This is likely the best app I have.....sorry I missed reviewing it until now. What caused me to check on that was an email I received from Michael answering a question I sent him yesterday! Yeah. It's my first issue with my Kindles that I have taken to him since.....well, I guess when he began this app? Now I don't know if he can always do that, but he addresses a wide range of stuff on the app, as well as note free ebooks on Amazon in a range of catagories. He also gives away free Kindles here and there! Don't miss another day! Get this now!
Fantastic blog. I appreciate the links to the Amazon site where I can get the books. I have found a few hundred free books through this that I really am interested in because the variety shown is very wide. The biggest problem will be finding time to read them all. One of the minor disadvantages I would add is that sometimes the links for genres of free books take me to the wrong page. Also, remember many of the free books are lesser known or new authors, but there are some pretty high quality books as well.
This is one of my absolute favorite apps and I look at it daily!! Some of the books are free and some are .99 cents. I enjoy scrolling through and finding a gem here and there!! There are pictures of the authors too! Books are added daily.
Favor - Please add true haunting and true ghost stories.
