"When I first attempted yoga with my friend Jeff Higgs, I couldn’t get into any of the positions, because I was hardened like steel. He was a soft, malleable structure, and I looked like a DeLorean. I was a cool car that looked good, but I was just stainless steel. I couldn’t get into any of the positions with Jeff, but I was always more fit than him because underneath I had so much fire. I could outrun him, out-swim him, and out-do him. I could push past discomfort because I didn’t feel it. I had no idea I was harming my body. But I was fit as hell."
I have never done any running or swimming with Chris (different BUD/S classes and SEAL Teams), and whether he is a faster runner or swimmer means nothing to me. What was disappointing was publishing such statements. And supposing he was/is, why would he write that? Why would you publish in your book that you could "outdo" your friend? To say outdo is a very broad statement and can mean any and everything. What emotions lie beneath the compulsion to publish such a statement? If I were to publish a book with the same statement regarding Chris, how would he feel? AITA?
To publish my family name with those statements demands public address. If my last name hadn't been included, I'd have nothing to say.
Ultimately, I wish the best for Chris or anyone else putting work in to better themselves and/or those around them. It is entirely possible to bring the public spotlight to yourself without detracting from others, and I ask that be done moving forward.
I feel inspired to be able to change things in my life that need to be changed. he helps you realize that working on yourself Is one of the most important things you can actually do for yourself and for the people around you.
The influences that you came from do not have to be where you end, very important insight. Thank you Christopher for being so vulnerable and allowing the world to see where you came from and where you are today because of all the hard work you have done for yourself and others. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
