Laurelin Paige is the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She's a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there's kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn't seem to complain, however. When she isn't reading or writing sexy stories, she's probably singing, watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. “And his eyes…I couldn’t see them clearly in the darkness, but I felt them.”

I was truly blessed to be one of the very first people to read the finished amazingness that is this book, Free Me. Free Me is a spin off novel and the first book in a new duet from the bestselling, totally talented Laurelin Paige.

Gwen Anders is first introduced to us in Forever with You, book 3 in the Fixed Series, when she begins working at the Sky Launch for Alayna. We know very little about her, except that she is hiding from someone or something. I can honestly say I never thought in a million years that I would love this book, as much as I loved Hudson and Alayna’s story, but I was so very wrong. I fell completely in love with Gwen and JC. Gwen is a woman that has tried desperately to put her troublesome past behind her. Her sister Norma, and her brother Ben have had a pretty crappy childhood. Suffering from a violent and abusive father, they are closely bonded, and would do whatever it takes to protect each other. The relationship between them is genuine and touching. Norma being the oldest, she’s sacrificed a lot in order to ensure her siblings safety and happiness. Gwen loves her brother and sister fiercely and to that end, she’s not allowed herself to love anyone else. She doesn’t believe that she needs it. She fears it in some ways I think. She only needs them. She loves her job at the Eighty Eighth Floor, she gets along well with her co-workers, admires her boss and, most important of all, she remains in control at all times.

“I did like my job. It was steady and rhythmic. Managing gave me the opportunity to be no-nonsense and harsh. It was how I preferred to be. Cold. Hard. In Charge”

Being spontaneous is simply not who Gwen Anders is.

SPOILER ALERT BEWARE!!! Wow I loved loved loved this book. I need the next one now please! I fell in love with Gwen. She was such a closed off person, who refused to get close to anyone except her brother and sister, and she is a total hard a..! I loved her. She manages a night club and lives with her sister Norma (who works for Hudson Pierce, swoon). We follows all the rules and is totally miserable. She needs someone to break her out of her shell. One night she meets the hot, sexy, confident, rich JC. Oh my that man is cocky and he wants Gwen immediately. He can see right through her. He knows she needs to be set free and loosen up. And he is determined to be the one to make it happen. He proposes that they have a noncommited sexual relationship. Finally Gwen agrees. They meet once a week in his hotel and have hot, oh so hot, amazing sex. They agree to keep their personal lives private. They don't even know the others last name or phone numbers. But the more time they are together they share bits and pieces, only small pieces. They eventually fall in love. Gwen opens up about her past completely. Her dad beat her and her siblings after their mom died and has been in jail for ten years because of it. But now he's out and he finds them. He hit Gwen but JC shows up and runs him off. He says he wants 25,000 from her. She's terrified. Norma helps her press charges. Then after one phone call JC acts weird and proposes out of the blue right after the first time they declare their love for each other. He not tell her his secrets until she agrees to marry him in Las Vegas. She says no. She does show up in Vegas to tell him she won't marry him but that she will love him no matter what secrets he has. But he got drunk and married a complete stranger apparently. Omg I was ticked off.Read more ›

I was lucky to win an Advanced Copy of this book. Here is my honest review!

Wow!!!! Fabulous. Just fabulous. I can tell the writing of this author has definitely improved. Looking forward to more!!!

I am a sucker for secretive, controlling, commitment-phobe, sex gods...yes, that's me! So this book was right up my alley. Because that is what JC is.

In the spin-off from The Fixed Trilogy, we are now following Gwen, the sister to Hudson's business exec, Norma. This book follows Gwen's life before she came to work at the Sky Launch. Her time at Eighty Eighth Floor and why she left. We learn about JC, a little.

The story is good, enough twists and turns to make your head spin, but not fly off. Great steamy scenes to show sexual chemistry.

The writing was great. The story flowed along very well.

Looking forward to the conclusion of Gwen's story and to learn more of her family and their back stories!

If you are a fan of this authors other series "fixed" then this is disappointing all around. This book is really nothing like fixed. I was so disappointed. As a spin off you expect a different story but this didn't even seem like the same author. In fixed Gwen seemed broken but strong, this story had potential but instead she is a weak character. Its ridiculous. SPOILER ALERT******************
When JC and Gwen meet, its cheesy insta- attraction lust which is written so unbelievable and annoying. Seriously, she can't control her bodily functions for 5 minutes in his presence and I get they are supposed to be attracted but 3 minutes after she finds out her brother tries to commit suicide, she decides she just has to have sex with a stranger at her work??? Really, I was lost right then. Then he spoontaneously wants to get married, she says no so he gets drunk in Vegas and gets married to a stranger? Uh OK where did that come from?******"
Then they're is so much internal dialogue that conflicted itself it was distracted and confusing. I ended up just skipping a lot of this book. In my opinion don't bother if you like the fixed trilogy.
