I recently finished reading "Free Your Mind" by Patrick Fagan, and I must say, it's one of the most enlightening books I've come across in a long time. This book is not just a read; it's an experience that empowers and educates you in ways you wouldn't expect.

From the outset, Fagan captivates the reader with his insightful perspectives on human psychology and behavior. His writing style is engaging and accessible, making complex concepts easy to understand and relate to. He delves into the intricacies of the mind with such clarity and depth that you can't help but feel a sense of awakening as you turn each page.

One of the most impressive aspects of this book is how Fagan combines scientific research with practical advice. He provides actionable steps to free your mind from the constraints of societal norms and self-imposed limitations. The book is filled with real-life examples and exercises that encourage self-reflection and personal growth.

"Free Your Mind" is more than just a guide; it's a journey toward self-discovery and mental liberation. Fagan's expertise in psychology shines through in every chapter, offering readers a unique opportunity to understand and transform their thought processes.

In conclusion, I highly recommend "Free Your Mind" to anyone seeking to understand the depths of their mind and unlock their full potential. Whether you're a student of psychology, a professional in the field, or just someone curious about the human mind, this book is a valuable resource that will leave a lasting impact on your life.

Very well written and interesting. One of the best books I’ve read in regards to research and information provided on the topic. Authors don’t talk in circles, throw word salads, or try to promote themselves.

They had much about how much manipulation we faced in climate change information and covid information. They sounded like climate deniers and anti- vaxers. Besides this I found the book interesting and somewhat informative. There is no index and I find that makes the information and the book questionable.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read. Excellent.

Initially struggled with the writing style - but as I got used to the weaving of references & quotations used to create the rich tapestry it does, everything clicked into place.
I decided to push through my own cognitive dissonance a couple of years ago and have since understood more about how the world works as a result. It's been painful - but I'd rather live with a painful truth than live with the potential consequences of blissful ignorance.
This book aims to help the reader become aware of how they may be unwittingly manipulated in almost every aspect of their daily lives. It's not "preachy" - and strikes just the right balance in my opinion. It's thought-provoking. Well-done and thank-you to the authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book, highly recommend

A thorough and helpful book. Very enjoyable to read, despite its concerning subject matter. Made me feel a bit more optimistic and had some really good advice. Seemed rather long, but very much worth the effort of getting through it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely and relevant

Firstly, notice how Amazon automatically puts all the five star reviews first below this product. They WANT you to hear the positive stuff first, so you buy this book. Why would they encourage the poorer reviews to be visible? You might choose not to buy it. This is a simple example of the manipulation we experience all day, every day.

Anyhow... This is a timely, important and accurate work, and should be on all bookshelves.

My only issue is the analogy of a battlefield and the reader being a soldier (used in the Intro and chapter 1). This really feels childish, forced and amateurish, and detracts from the scholarly contents. It nearly put me off continuing to read the whole book. But if you persevere the other chapters are well worth reading.

If the authors read this reveiw I suggest scrubbing the "reader is a soldier" analogy when you publish the second edition. It's unnecessary and clichéd.

Great book. Well done and thank you for putting it together.

Nick Collins
2.0 out of 5 stars Partly informative but also irresponsible
Reviewed in Australia on September 24, 2023
Most of this book comprises a description of persuasion techniques used by governments and others. I found this interesting and it is something citizens should be mindful of. However somewhat ironically, the authors also express some poorly justified and irresponsible (in my opinion) advocacy disparaging covid containment measures and climate action. They argue that a fear of death makes people gullible (while failing to mention the pandemic has killed 7 million people!), suggest we disregard the vast majority of scientific and economic research showing the need climate action because science is sometimes imperfect, and suggest we go with our gut-feelings instead. There is no discussion of deliberate mis/disinformation campaigns on climate led by fossil fuel companies and conservative politicians. This book will appeal to libertarians who would prefer not to take personal responsibility to address inconvenient truths.
