Emma is from a life that involves shady people one though that is shady she didn't expect. To get away from this life she comes to Hera. Starts working for Carson Dylan's brother and here she meets Dylan. At first Dylan is brash and cranky to be expected with him trying to control his world and not fall back into depression. But when Emma gets in trouble Dylan steps up to help and she is overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with who he really is and her feelings for him but his past is hard for her. She does though give him a chance and that helps her to blossom. that is until the green eyed monster takes over her. She can't get over Jess and Dylan right away. Dylan didn't know she wasn't told about it but is honest and upfront with her. She is angry though and won't let go. Stubborn girl. Dylan though holds out hope and doesn't give up. He even opens up to her more and she realizes that he will always be there for her. Dylan helps her through some tough moments by sharing some happy memories of his childhood.
When they get home their world is changed. They find comfort in each other and their love helps them get through things.
A beautiful story of love and trust. Finding the right person to help you want to fight and be together. I am so happy for Dylan and who he finds and even becomes. A wonderful read from start to finish.
This book was hot! I gave this book five stars because the chemistry was amazing and the writing was so well done. I laughed aloud quite a few times. And I was excited to continue reading the book.
I was so excited for Dylan and Emma. Their relationship was intense and passionate. Dylan was adorable and Emma was lovable. They were so good for each other.
They had both come from troubled pasts. They were both trying to move on and live better lives.
The passion they felt for one another really showed through as they each told their story. I loved their quirks. And when they had their first big fight I couldn't get enough. The author really knew how to draw me in throughout the story.
The only small part I didn't like was the reaction that Emma had when she found out that Dylan used to date Jess. I felt she went a little overboard with being so upset by that fact. Dylan had a past before he met her. And Dylan and Jess hadn't even been serious. He had been mentally crazy in the head and Jess had been in love with Carson, Dylan's brother. So it really wasn't any secret love affair to hide. And Dylan had assumed she knew. So yeah, she understandably could have gotten a little upset, but she dragged it on for a while.... But other than that it's a great story.
When you read this book, I truly believe that it will keep you interested. It's told at a nice pace and I never felt like the story was rushed.
This book is filled with passion, romance, a little action, and some great comedy. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a love story that they will remember.
Dylan is from book 1 of the series, from the love triangle sort of there. He is back from the mental facility after treating his bipolar disorder and working. Along comes Emma, a new hire at the furniture factory. And he falls for her but is terrified given his past situation with Jess, his illness, and the slew of problems surrounding Emma in addition to her being a coworker.
This book suffered from a meandering storyline with some crazy inclusions of mobsters and exes and whatever thrown on in. It differed a lot from book 1 in that sense. But I liked the story of Dylan and Emma, and I liked how his mental illness was handled, factually and honestly, with admission that it was going to frankly be a life-long management process with no cure. I love that in this book, and that Emma was realistic and accepting of his strengths and his weaknesses. Good for them for creating a strong base for their relationship.
I could have done without that weird mobster plot. I do believe though that Cooper from this book is the next hero, so that sounds like a lot of fun to read. I like this author with her unique voice.
I was actually wondering if I should of read the first book first but realized I don't think so. I mean I may of gotten in deeper with some of the other characters and learned more of Dylan's history but this was good on its own.
Dylan suffers from bi polar but he is getting his life on track so he can be better for his brother. He has sworn off his vices...alcohol and women. Well until Emma shows up. He is instantly drawn to her. He throws out his cocky side but his sweet side too. They both hold secrets but shares. Little here and there finally until they are and open book.
Their love story was sweet and I loved the protective Dylan as much as the sweet and cocky Dylan.
Emma was no innocent princess either, she knew how to care for herself and she stood up for herself.
I really enjoyed this book. It was happy, sweet, a little bit of angst and a lot of hotness.

This book is book 2 in the Fearsome series but it can be read as a standalone.
This books begins with the character of Emma moving to a new town to start a new job and build a new life for herself away from the dodgy dealings that surround her father and life at home.
She seems strong, determined and quite likeable.
Then we meet Dylan who is the home-town boy who works in the family business and will be working closely with Emma. Dylan battles a mental illness everyday but in this book his illness is finally under control after a complete blow out in the previous book. He seems like a really nice guy, he's been through the ringer and he is just trying to get on with his life. I liked him.
When Dylan and Emma meet they are attracted. However, Dylan fears his reaction to Emma in case it will trigger a downward spiral so he is abrupt with her and generally quite rude. It's entertaining as you know it's all going to blow up in his face and it does.
Stuff goes down with Emma's ex and Dylan steps in like a white knight, scoops her up, takes her home, feeds her, protects her and claims her... But it isn't as exciting as it sounds. Their relationship moves unbelievably fast and I just didn't believe it. Didn't feel it and when all is said and done they work together (same office etc), live together, socialise together... Doesn't seem healthy.
Anyway.
As the story moves on I liked Dylan more and more (despite bouts of idiocy) but I liked Emma less and less. This continued to the point I put the book down for a few days before I could finish it.
So what caused my initial like of Emma to turn into absolute disgust and borderline hatred? Well, step one was the way she was with her ex. She is completely unreasonable and unwilling to consider anyone else's feelings (cough Dylan cough) on the matter. Then there was the ridiculous blow up from Emma over a whole load of stuff after a dinner party. So what Dylan had a past before he even knew Emma existed! If his brother is over it what right does she have to get bent about it? Especially after the stuff with her ex. Talk about being totally unfair and blowing things out of proportion! She was a hag and even though she gets over herself a bit towards the end the author was never able to redeem her in my eyes.
If you are a new adult fan, like over-protective alpha guys and lots of drama in your books then you'll probably like it. If you don't then you probably wont. Either way, it's not a horrible book it just was not my cup of tea in the end (because of Emma).

However, I felt about the general plot, which I would have rated 3/5, it is S A Wolfe's honest and sincere portrayal of Dylan and his depression which moved and inspired me. In Freedom we do not find Dylan suddenly 'healed'; every day is a struggle for him and S A Wolfe openly chronicles this, referring to his medication, his need for medical and physical therapy and his time spent in rehab.
There are enough plot surprises in Freedom to keep us reading until the book's romantic conclusion. This will be enjoyed by fans of the NA genre who may be looking for their next book boyfriend or just love staring at gorgeous book covers!!
I hope S A Wolfe continues this series with the group of friends and think Imogene would be a fun subject!

It is rather dignifying to see such a character that, despite his fears and insecurities, S.A. Wolfe does not let the illness define him but reveal that there is freedom to the illness too. I have seen both sides to Dylan’s bipolar disorder from behavioural issues in Fearsome, to a stronger and determined young man – who yes questions himself with each step he takes –as he falls in love. I have always felt since reading Fearsome that Dylan deserved someone worthy of his love.
As soon as Emma starts work at Blackard Design and sharing an office with Dylan, the tension between the two is obvious but quite humouring. Dylan immediately feels his lack of self-control and Emma is someone who is a force to be reckoned with as she is smart, brave and not afraid to speak her mind. However, she does come with some pretty major baggage.
Being part of a family tangled up with mobsters has proven to be rather challenging for her and moving to Hera had not done her any favours as certain people she thought was out of her life return, unhinging Dylan and other members of Hera’s small town.
As the plot continues, you come to realise how Dylan becomes protective and thinks more about Emma’s well-being rather than his disorder. It should be noted to all readers that despite the fact Dylan suffers from a mental illness, the book doesn’t solely focus on the depression but the love these two characters share and how they learn to accept one another whole-heartedly.
It is an endearing and compassionate story of two people that come together and help each other overcome barriers.
Love really can conquer all.
Thank you S.A.Wolfe!

Dylan Blackard is a very troubled man. At only twenty four, Dylan has had to endure some very extenuating circumstances and it hasn’t done anything good to his self-worth. Returning to town after being gone for six months, Dylan is focused on working out and working in his brother’s business.
Dylan gets back from a business trip to find his brother, Carson has hired a sales assistant to work together with Dylan and didn’t keep him in the loop. Emma is standing at the reception desk when Dylan walks in and he is speechless. Dylan has been avoiding everybody and become a recluse, trying to change his womanising ways. But when he sees Emma the first time, well his whole body lights up like a firecracker.
Emma Keller is a twenty three year old that has had a life associated to the crime world and is trying to escape to start fresh. With the help from her college friends, Lauren and Imogene, she has found a job and moved to a small country town. Leaving behind an ex, Robert and her family.
Emma’s first impression of Dylan was that he looked like a mercenary. Big muscles with attitude! When they start working together though, Dylan tries to stay as far away as he can and is quite brusque towards her. Emma doesn’t know what she’s done, but when circumstances change and Emma needs a helping hand, Dylan doesn’t hesitate to help.
The more time they spend together, the more Emma realises there is a lot more to Dylan than his muscles and testy attitude. When trouble comes knocking on her door, the guys at work all step up to support and protect Emma without any hesitation.
Carson is a great boss, but one of the problems with small towns is that the rumour mill is quick and strong. Can Emma ignore all the rumours and take Dylan for face value? Will they trust each other enough to share their secrets and fears? Will Emma every truly be safe and away from the crime underworld?
When Emma finally realises that people aren’t what they seem, she grows up, puts her big girl panties on and deals. With a happy ever after and a combination of mystery, action and lots of lust, Freedom is a winner and I hope there will be more from Ms Wolfe, sharing Imogene’s and Lauren’s stories. I recommend this to new adult readers that want something a little different and a lot intriguing.
