About the Author

A.M. Hargrove is the romance author of the Edge Series (Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge and Kissing Fire), Exquisite Betrayal, Dirty Nights, and the romantic suspense companion novels Tragically Flawed (Tragic 1) and Tragic Desires (Tragic 2). She is also the author of the young adult paranormal/sci-fi The Guardians of Vesturon Series (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, reEmergent and Beginnings) and the adult spin off novels Dark Waltz and Death Waltz. She divides her time between the mountains of North Carolina and the upstate of South Carolina where she pursues her dream career of writing. Her family considers her crazy, her friends will agree, but she’s always game for some fun times. If she could change anything in the world, she would make chocolate and ice cream a part of the USDA food groups.

I admit it - I read a lot of terrible books. This book was bad, and I really hate to say that. The plot is good. So what is the problem? I kept asking myself that question...The writing is acceptable, but the author “tells” at times rather than describes and it is annoying and comes off clumsy. I admire what writers do so hopefully this review helps this writer moving forward. The female character is a bit stupid and not perceptive for a psychiatrist. Things that are so obvious she misses and then gets insulted by etc. Kolson was not the best lead male, but he was actually not bad. Gabby on the other had was a bit of an idiot and annoyed me to no end, although her distress was written well. I had to stop part way through the book just to write this review because I couldn’t take it any more and needed to vent. I kept asking myself why is it so bad? Decent male lead, good plot…why does it end up so bad??? I have read plenty of books with one annoying lead and still not thought it was a overall a bad book. Here that is not the case. I also got super annoyed when Kolson was apologizing for stuff he shouldn't have. Gabby was an insensative, ungrateful moron who needed everything spelt out for her and was always prying even though she was a psychiatrist, with her past, and had her own problems that she only shared it blobs at a time. The writing style does not help, but the author has glimmers of promise. P.S. I did finish the book. Ending was okay. It didn't get worse.

This story was extremely similar to Fifty Shades but unfortunately not written as well. I did like the story concept and will most likely read the second one to see where it goes. There are a lot of grammar issues in this book and parts that I had to read multiple times because it was unclear who was talking. I don't mind when points of view change but it happens too often and often within the same paragraph. It jumps from first person, to third and back again. I guess on Amazon people are overly generous because the stars on this are high. The main character meets a mysterious man who is into bdsm. He is rich, has his own company, tons of bodyguards, a helicopter and pulls her right into his life. Of course, she also has someone after her. Sound Familiar? if your not picky about good grammatical writing and editing and just want a fun love story with a little mystery then sure go ahead and read this.

This story starts with Gabriella having her past come back into her life after she thought she had left it all behind her. She had such a rough upbringing with a father who always made her feel unwanted and a mother who was an alcoholic and a cousin who gave her unwanted attention.
She becomes a psychiatrist to help others in her practice and with all of her volunteer work. She meets Kolson Hart at a bar one evening and the rest as they say is history. He cannot stay away from her and has his driver keep a close eye on her which is a good thing because her cousin will not let up on pursuing her.
Kolson also has a past that he doesn’t talk about even though he makes Gabby reveal all of her past to him by way of sexual favors. She tries all that she can to get him to lean on her but he just will not let the cat out of the bag. He does reveal it has to do with his dad and the dark, but that is really all you get out of him in this book.
The book does end in a cliff hanger that will have you panting for more of the story, so A.M. could you please get to writing fast so I can find out what the secret he is keeping to himself is? This was a 4 star read for me and I hope you enjoy it as well, there were tons of hot sex scenes, intrigue, romance, and overall good story line.

A lot of drama and issues in this book, but I found it to be a great read. The chemistry and witty dialogue between Kolson and Gabby are quite the draw to their story. Finally a mature adult romance where there are honest conversations, respect, and logical decisions. Though Kolson's past is still an enigma, his friendship and love for Gabby can be felt through the author's words. The author did a great job of balancing the romance of Kolson and Gabby with steamy scenes along with the messages of help and hope for drug addicts, rape, and violent physical abuse victims. Reading about Gabby's difficult past was hard, but as she finds love, safety, and family in Kolson, you can't not be happy for her in the end. Looking forward to the other books in the series. Now it is time to know Kolson's secrets. Read this book first!

Although this is a free read I wish I had not waisted my time. The story was was lacking in romance. The sexy times were uninteresting and not sexy at all. Rebel was very unlikeable and the shifter paranormal world in this story did not make sense.

I wasn't happy that third person started telling this story but it switched to first person part way thru the book. I eventually fell in love with these characters and I'm really looking forward to the last brother.

I buy a lot of books on amazon and I get a lot of free ones and this was free, but I would gladly pay for any of your books.my favorite part of freeing her is kolson telling grabby how he feels."I didn't think I was capable of loving anyone, but you, you've short circuited me,taken me apart, bit by bit placed yourself inside me and rewired me,made me whole again, you've reconstructed me kea,and you don't even know it.You are the most perfect human being God ever created and to think he sent you to me.Absolutely, unequivocally magic 2broken souls brought together by a wacko but found love.Magic is found for me by reading and your books are always very dear to my heart and this one is no exception I truly loved it.You keep writing and I will keep reading.
