Freeing Jasper is Jasper Walker’s story and the second book in the Black Ops series. Jasper is a fascinating guy. He is a man who is emotionally scarred but learned through his training how to push every emotion out of his head to succeed in his mission. His role for their assignments is that of assassin which he can do without a second thought. His allegiance is to his team and keeping them safe.
Emily Jenkins has the ability to change Jasper if he lets her. Unfortunately, as a widow and single mom, she also has the one thing that Jasper avoids at all costs—a child. Emily has secrets of her own that center around her marriage, her son, and bad decisions made in her past.
Jasper and Emily are the perfect complements to one another. It turns out that they rotate being strong when the other needs someone. Both characters are loyal and inspire loyalty among their friends. The friends are wonderful ancillary characters. It is fun to see how they all meld together in some ways but remain separate too.
Riley Edwards does an excellent job showcasing the life of a special operations team. The kind of men they are and how they must remove personal feelings from the goal of a mission. She also shows how their women and significant others must adjust their life to love these men. Freeing Jasper is a book that I will read again. It works fine as a standalone; however, you will want to know Shane’s story though. Trust me!
Currently, the first book in the series is free with Kindle Unlimited or $1.99. Freeing Jasper is only $.99. You can’t go wrong with either purchase. Now I’m waiting patiently for the next book in the series and checking out Ms. Edwards’ other offerings.
Stand Alone: Yes
Part of a Series: Yes - Book 2 of the 707 Freedom Black Ops series (Same series, different couple)
POV: Jasper and Emily
Steam Level: Quite Warm
I love Jasper. I loved him in Lily and Lennox's book and I loved his book. Jasper is a sexy playboy with hurt lurking in his soul. A hurt we know about from reading Free but come to know and understand the depth of in his and Emily's book. Emily is a widow and a single mom who puts her son first and doesn't have time for Jasper's fear of children. The push and pull between Emily and jasper and their feelings and fears is emotional, heart-breaking, and beautiful. I love the relationship between the guys and how they stand up for each other while also caring enough to call each other out on their crap. Overall Freeing Jasper is about love, loss, friendship, forgiveness and trust. Once I started it I didn't want to put it down and cannot wait to read more of this series and these strong, sexy, and sweet men and the women who love them. This is an excellent series that will suck you in and take you on a wild ride.
Jasper Walker is a man who carries a vast amount of guilt over events from his past. He turned his life upside down in order to run away from a situation that has always haunted him. A self-proclaimed man-whore, his world is rocked on it's foundation when he introduced to Emily Jenkins. Emily too, has secrets from her past that she holds on to. She also has the one thing that Jasper does everything to avoid - a child. The attraction between these two is instantaneous, but they hide their feelings due to past experiences.
Riley Edwards certainly knows how to write a story that will keep her readers totally enthralled. She writes about realistic men in the Special Ops branch, and how their secretive lives affect those who they love and fiercely protect. Her story of Jasper and Emily is a real "tug of war", each battling with their conflicting emotions. There is love, friendship and the battle with devastating loss and the hope of finding trust once again. Their story will have you cheering for them every step of the way.
Catching up with Lily and Lenox (Shane) from book one was an added bonus. Now I wait patiently for Levi and Clark to have a chance to tell their stories.
An absolute MUST READ.

Now to get his love life in track. Oh wow they are rocking each other's worlds. I'm so glad he laid his demons to rest and that his walls tumbled down. Now Jasper is free at last.
Now he can have his HEA with Emily
This book is intense, but there are some funny moments. Sweet, feisty women and hot Alpha men
