Product Description

The Freeman 3-in-1 Flooring Nailer/Stapler has the ability to equip 3 types of flooring fasteners (T-Cleats, L-Cleats and Staples) for the professional and do-it-yourselfer alike. The PDX50C is only 9.5 pounds, which will relieve some strain when working on long flooring projects. It is also equipped with an anodized aluminum magazine, no mar protection plate, air filter/anti-dust cap, one piece heat treated driver blade, self leveling front foot and high quality internal wearable parts. The PDX50C can be used on solid wood tongue and groove flooring measuring from 1/2-Inch to 23/32-Inch in thickness. The PDX50C is the first of its kind on the market due to several factors: overall weight, eliminates the need for a prefinished flooring adapter and comes standard with a 3 pound fiberglass handle mallet. Like all Freeman nailers, the PDX50C nailer/stapler is also backed by the Freeman 7 Year Limited Warranty.

It worked very well for us. Used it to install about 400 sqft of 3/4" maple. Very few spit toungues with the 16 gauge cleats.
The nailer itself jammed twice. Once, was the very first nail. Maybe the oil didnt get where it needed yet, or we didnt hit it right. It basically just fell out of the machine. 2nd time, same thing, was easy to get the nail out without any dissasembly. Took just seconds to clear.
There were a few nails that did not go in all the way. I found the regulator on my tank was drifting a little low. After correcting pressures, everything was fine. Not too sensitive to mallet pressure either. Very predictable, easy to work with.

The bottom pad did not mar the floor at all. Not that we slid it around. We generally picked it up an inch or so as we moved it. We did need to tighten/adjust all the loose bits they mention. I expect if you didnt do that you would have nothing but troubles. Check everything periodically ( ~2-3x a day depending on how long your day is for tightness. We may have slightly over oiled to be on the safe side. No appreciable oil came through into the wood.

The PDX50C model looked better made, had a nicer mallet, and weight less than the PFL618BR model. Very happy with this purchase.

This unit is a beast. It takes some getting used to (I kept putting nails in the middle of the board until I got a feel for the guide). Mine drove perfectly every time; I did about 600 SF of 6" pine flooring my first use of it without a misfire. Good piece of equipment if you are privileged to do some wood flooring installation.

We spent 10k to buy Anderson Engineered flooring for our home and we are using this to install it. No complaints at all, so far. Have laid over 300 square feet and have another 750 to go. Delivered when promised.

Needed to put down 1100 sq feet of hickory floor in a DIY without taking PTO timeline that made renting a nailer far more pricey than purchasing this.

Performed beautifully, no misfires. Mallet included is not great for extended use, would just advise to get a different rubber mallet to save your hands.

Great value!

I am not an expert installer, just a regular weekend warrior, and it is my first time installing a hardwood floor, thus my reviews is based on my actual usage. So far I completed 450 square feet and no jams. I still have another 500 square feet to go. To me this was an excellent investment, as the cost was next to nothing compare to if I was renting at $45 or so per day. I took my time with the installation as it is my home, thus the cost of buying the nailer was right. The PDX50C nailer is very light and easy to move around. Like the option to used T or L cleat and/or staple. Again no jams, I oil as per specification. Place some masking tape or painter tape on the plate so that you don't scratch the wood. As for the fiberglass mallet, great weight and feel. The rubber can take a beating as I used it to get the wood tight together.

I had the correct air pressure and did oil the nailer as per the manufacturer recommendation, but still jambed after only a few nails. Cleared the jamb and seemed to work fine after that. The front foot was difficult to adjust and set, as it kept moving out of place as I tried ti tighten it, even with lots of pressure to keep it in place. Did not like the fact that a case was not availible. A fair tool for someone that does flooring every once in a while, but not for a flooring proffessional that needs it everyday.

Installed 180sqft reclaimed hardwood floor, with no jambs, but cyclinder has jambed over 15 times. Wear blade and grove gall up way to quickly and needs to be pulled apart and deburred. Tried three different type of nails and even tryed two different types of lube oil and grease to no avail. Contacted customer service and was told these are wear parts.
pulled unit apart and sanded and polished smooth, greased with high pressure grease and has gotten a little better. You would not expect this from a new unit.
Still have over 800sqft to install so hope recent work on driver blade and nail grove will help. Very frustrated after reading fairly good reviews.
