16 Gauge L-Cleat, 16 Gauge T-Cleat, and 15.5 Gauge Flooring Staples
When we say the PFL618BR is a '3-in-1 Stapler & Nailer', we are talking about how the tool is compatible with three different types of 1-1/2" to 2" fasteners. That means you don't have mess around with changing the magazine if you need a cleat instead of a staple, or you wanted to use T-Cleats but your hardware store only carries 2" lengths in L-cleats. Confused about the differences between fasteners or overwhelmed with the options? Your best bet is to use whatever the flooring manufacturer recommends - they know what your specific flooring needs! Whatever you choose, we have the right fastener for you.
2" L-Cleats: FNL-2
2" T-Cleats: FNT-2
1-1/2" Staples: FS-15
2" Staples: FS-2

Top customer reviews
I bout this baby in 2009. Since then, I've installed around 6,000 sq.ft. of hardwood (all 3/4") including Acacia (Tobacco Road handscraped from lumber-liquidators) & very dense Brazilian cherry.
I've also lent it to my general contractor friend, who has easily installed another 10,000 sq. ft. of various hardwood, including various species of oak, hickory, and walnut.
I've never had the gun jam, and had maybe 10 misfires where the L cleat doesn't go all the way in. All I've done is oil it through the air inlet with 5 drops before every use. For the money, this gun has been amazing. A few weeks ago (Nov. 2016), I installed hardwood in another room in m house, about 300 sq. ft. and the gun worked perfectly. It's been beaten, abused, dropped, and still works as well as the first time I used it.
I had my pancake compressor set @ 90 psi and it was setting the cleats perfectly with hardly any splitting.
A friend of mine bought a used Freeman nailer when he was building his house.
I helped him install over 1500 sq ft and had maybe two jams with that one which is why I sought out a Freeman nailer to buy for myself.
It comes in a nice quality case that gives you some extra storage including a space that fits a box of cleats perfectly.
I found the wooden handle on the mallet to be comfortable.
Once you get a feel for the nailer, you can lay the flooring fairly quick, especially if you have a helper laying the boards out in front of you.
It's definitely a plus to have the option of using three different fasteners.
I'd definitely purchase this again.
The worst part about this tool is the flimsy plastic case that comes with it, I used it until the hinge broke in two then I built it a nice wood case to live in. I don't consider this a reason to knock it down to 4 stars since I bought it for the tool and not the case. It also includes safety glasses, a small bottle of oil, and a mallet.
Some people have complained that the mallet broke, mine hasn't, and even if it does the next time I use it I would not change my review, I would buy a new mallet and be perfectly happy knowing how much work it has already done. The instructions tell you this is an oiless tool but for better performance use oil...just go ahead and use the oil, and when you run out go to your local hardware store and buy another bottle of air tool oil. No air nailer is oiless, there are moving parts inside that like to be oiled. The safety glasses are surprisingly comfortable and are actually safety glasses and not those goofy looking goggle things that come with most chinese tools.
After using this tool I would not even consider paying 3 to 4 times as much for the "name brand" tool. Since the purchase of this freeman nailer I have bought three other freeman products: Freeman PFR2190 21-Degree Full-Head Framing Nailer,Freeman PMC150 1-1/2-Inch Metal Connector Nailer, and Freeman PP123 23 Gauge 1-Inch Pinner, all of which were purchased because of my pleasant experience with this tool.
