"Free Frame" is not just a series of photos and short captions. Very often, the author gives a short essay about how he came to take a particular photo in question that provides the reader with added insights.
Finally, as a very avid photographer myself who is going to Antarctica in just a week's time, I greatly appreciated the listing at the end of the book where the author specified the camera, lens type, ISO, and aperture setting used in each shot. This helped me decide what sort of what equipment I need to bring with me.
Buy it. Read it. Enjoy it.

A wonderful book, stuffed with an amazing range of photographs taken by Doug Allan, mainly to complement David Attenborough's TV programmes in Arctic regions over 30 years, culminaring in his work for the latest blockbuster 'Frozen Planet'. The text which accompanies the photographe is informative and entertaining. The book is beautifully printed and represents exceptional value value.
