Top Customer Reviews
I will edit my review AFTER I get good customer service which has not happened yet. Crystals are very very foggy when not broken or don't have bubbles in them.
The gold finish looks VERY cheap. It hearkens to a bad version of a 1980/1990s chandelier that is trying to look expensive, but never will. Like children's costume jewelry vs. a real diamond ring.
The "crystals" could be glass, could be acrylic - either way, they do not look, feel, or sound like leaded crystal glass (do you homework via Google on what differentiates glass from "crystal"). They feel cheap. And they are not faceted - rather, "bumpy", without the sharp corners and facets of quality crystals.
It was a beast to put together (3 hours like others have stated, is pretty spot on), without clear instructions, but I still assembled it in hopes that it might redeem itself once put together. Still disappointing. None of the crystals are attached to the frame, and rather than being attached to each other via round closed links, there are cheap, thin metal strips folded over through the "crystal" holes on each side. So when assembling your chandelier, you thread the one free end of the thin metal strip through the holes in the frame, and then bend it over to create a "U" shape. Lots of the metal I bent would unbend and unhook during assembly though. The frame itself comes in about 6 different pieces that don't hold together sturdily once assembled.
While initially I thought I might attempt to Rub N Buff the gold finish to tone it down and "mature" it to look less cheap, I don't think my husband can see past its current state to even attempt a little DIY help. He keeps commenting how chintzy it looks. And the finish is so shiny/plasticky, I'm not sure it would even take Rub N Buff - I think it would just wipe off. I have initiated a return through Gallery Lighting (whom it was shipped and sold by), and let's hope they come through.
*Update: Gallery Lighting informed me that I may keep the chandelier for 1/2 price. I have no desire to keep it. My other option is to ship it back, which will cost me $50-75 (I looked around), which, by the time you combine that with the $25 to ship it here (and which I will NOT be refunded), that's really only half the price anyway. So disappointing and frustrating. BUYERS BEWARE of a cheap product that you will NOT be able to return unless you want to be out $100.
The product is currently not even being used or displayed because the missing links do not allow me to put the entire piece together. If replacement items are sent, as the bags were full of broken crystal (not packed well), then I will adjust this review. FOR NOW, POOR PRODUCT ALL AROUND.
UPDATE: March 2013 - The company did provide me with the correct crystals finally. However, it was a long process.
