About the Author

Glynis grew up as the youngest of three children in Rockland County, New York. Her mother remarried when she was six and she gained not only an amazing father, but three wonderful sisters. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northwestern University and worked in Social Service for two years before transitioning to Human Resources. After thirteen years in Human Resources, she decided to make good on her promise to write a book. Rather than detailing the years of bizarre employee relations issues she had encountered (as this may land her in more than a bit of trouble), she elected to write the story of how she met and married her husband, Sebastien,in six short months.

It's true that the story had always been a crowd pleaser. What woman wouldn't want to be swept off of her feet by a handsome young Frenchman? Glynis decided that it was time that a dose of reality were included to complete the picture. While she felt lucky to have met the love of her life, it was certainly not the image of perfection imagined by many. The end result, French Twist, is humorous, sweet and undeniably real. As this was just the beginning of their epic love story, Glynis continued to chronicle their adventures in the sequel,French Toast, and the final installment in the series, French Fry. After she finished milking her life story for all it was worth, she decided to write straight-up fiction with Gamer Girl, which infuses her beloved chick lit with a hint of fantasy.

When Glynis is not writing, she is trying to keep the peace amongst the three men and two cats in her life, finding missing body parts (Lego pieces are small!), supervising a myriad of homework assignments and keeping a tenuous hold on her sanity by consuming whatever chocolate is in the vicinity.

I was so excited to hear that the second book of the Sydney Bennett series is finally out! I love reading about her French fairytale and how it may not be all it's cracked up to be - but trying to embrace all the good stuff. Sydney is a nut (in a good way) and her adventures are fun to read. Highly recommend!

If you've read French Twist, all the characters you've liked or loved are back, especially Sydney Bennett now Durand. Her crazy, steamrolling behavior continues in French Toast. After a VERY brief courtship and marrying her love, Louis, she is now faced with 2 MORE weddings to plan and in Syd's case, survive without ending up in a psychological ward. The author truly embraces her lead character and for those who know why - will enrich your reading experience. If you suffer from any of the following; loving families, pregnant sisters, video game playing, motor-cycle enthusiast husbands, fathers who take great pride in teasing their kids for pure enjoyment or just want time to escape the paperwork piling up in your inbox? This is a light hearted, laugh out loud tale of a girl, a boy and their respective families and how they handle 2 weddings, language barriers and all the wine, food and frivolity that a joining of 2 people can bring- twice over!

I was happy to be one of the author's friends asked to be a part of the process, and enjoyed reviewing the chapters so much I fully admit to missing certain errors! I truly have never been interested in the breezy quick lit romance type books. The author brings so much humor and tenacity to her tale that you forget and just buckle in to enjoy the ride along with Sydney and hope no one gets hurt.

Grab your comfy pjs, chocolate, wine, tea or whatever you choose and sit back and let Sydney show you how to go no-so-quietly cuckoo and enjoy her continuing story. I can honestly say that you will experience a fun trip complete with deranged muppet outfits, infant toy vs washing machine battle and plenty of love, chocolate and laughter - although not necessarily in that order.

French Toast, the second book of the French Twist series by Glynis Astie, was a delightful book. I really enjoyed getting to know Sydney and Louis. French Toast was written as a stand alone novel, but I really wish I'd read the first book before I started reading the second. While you could read the second book and understand the story, I felt a bit cheated by not knowing the history of the characters - it was almost like walking in on a private joke.

The mishaps and issues that crop up for this poor couple made me laugh out loud many times. I could easily put myself in Sydney's place while planning the French wedding...I know next to nothing about French customs and could easily imagine the horror I'd feel when told about hideous outfits I'd have to wear. Another thing that I could relate to was how confused Sydney was when dealing with her French relatives. The language barrier must have been horrible, but not knowing the customs - it's easy to imagine I'd feel as if I were being hazed as well.

Sydney and Louis' struggle near the beginning of the book was well-done, in my opinion. You could feel the tension, the resentment, the depression and you knew it was real for them. Sydney's obsessive questioning of herself about whether she'd done the right thing, whether their marriage would survive - they were all great questions and so real to how people react today.

I look forward to reading Book 1 and Book 3 - way to set the readers up for bombshell, Ms. Astie!!

This novel is a perfect companion to the first in the series (French Twist). It is the kind of book that is easy to pick up where you left off. The author gives gentle reminders of the happenings of the first novel, so it's okay if it's been a while! Anyone who is married knows that marriage is a full-time job. It's something that you have to put effort into on a daily basis. How the main character makes it work is beyond me. With the mishaps and the events that take place in this novel, there is no way you'll be able to contain your laughter! This novel is full of humor, sarcasm, wit, romance, and situations everyone can relate to. You have to read it to believe it!

One man, one woman, three bridal gowns, three wedding ceremonies, and two families prepare for the weddings of the century as Sydney and Louis repeat their vows again, again, and again to satisfy family in two different continents. Sidney Bennett meets and falls in love with Frenchman Louis Durand whom she married three times with the first being a rushed ceremony planned by her mother to avoid Louis being deported. The second ceremony against a beautiful backdrop in Monterey, California had to be rescheduled, as her mother-in-law wanted the wedding she was in the midst of planning to happen sooner than later pushing the Monterey location Sidney has always dreamed of to last on the list.

The French countryside event includes a week long activity itinerary prior to the ceremony involving both families, friends and the ex-girlfriends of Louis who treat Sydney horribly and whom his mother still has close relations. Sidney worries that not knowing the French language she will feel out of place causing embarrassment to Louis as his new American wife. Sidney’s worst nightmare is recognizable as she is rescued from the planned mischief of the scheming exes by Louis’s favorite cousin named Simone and Sydney’s friend Maya who relish in the carefully calculated counter attacks against the “Ex-Pack.” Sydney has further reservations whether their decision to wed so quickly after seven months of meeting each other will sustain once the wedding ceremony begins and the family antics begin. Will the Durands attend the Monterey ceremony in America despite any mishaps that take place in France or will the Durands ignore the invitation to participate in Louis and Sydney’s wedding?
