I loved that Laila was such a loyal and honest friend. I think besides her and her high school best friend, Tanya, relationship, I really liked her and Jennifers' friendship. It's not often that you click with someone instantly and they become a true and genuine friend. I hate what happened to Jennifer; she's deserving of way more than to be hurt how she was. I do hope the thing with her and Mark continues to a long lasting friendship if nothing else. I took pity on Nicole; she was just looking for love or companionship in all the wrong places and in the wrong way. I think her reputation for being easy or overly sexual, was hard for guys to look past and you can't blame a guy for putting you in a f*** buddy position when that's what you lead with🤷🏾♀️. I'm hoping as the series continues, that she gets it together bc she seems like she'd be a dope girlfriend. I loved Monica. I hope she's still doing her genius thang as the books move forward. I also hope she finds a boo, too.
Although I'm glad Laila truly loves Chris, I can't say I'm a fan of their relationship. He seems like a really nice guy, yet they don't mesh too well for me. I guess we'll see how it plays out over her sophomore year and beyond.
Although I think it would be awkward for Tanya, I was hoping her brother, Josh, and Laila actually got a chance to see where things could possibly go between the two of them. Maybe there's still hope😏.
The whole situation with Courtney, Chris's ex, was very bizarre. I mean, it's one thing to cut up over a dude, that was just a fling btw, with his new girlfriend, yet to do it at his graduation, in front of his family🤨. His momma wasn't having no parts of that crazy🤭. I hope she moves on and gets a clue😒.
Again, a very slow start, yet I'm glad I didn't stop reading. I like Laila, her friends, her family and the vibes of her college. Good read for sure.
I will start by saying that the book matches the synopsis. Everything that is covered there happens in the book. The book is a full story as well, meaning it has all of the parts of a real book, which includes an ending.
I noticed other reviews saying that this book contained a lot of what goes on in college life. That is not true for me and I feel that many others would agree in saying that their own college lives were much different. For this reason, I would have liked to see more of the other parts of college life. I think the book needed a tad more excitement.
I feel like the author hit their mark to reach a certain audience. Good job!
