From the manufacturer
Freud's industrial saw blades are carefully crafted using the best materials, the most innovative designs, and the industry's most sophisticated manufacturing processes. Every blade is specifically designed for superior performance and maximum life. Select the best blade for your application from a wide variety of designs and sizes, all featuring Freud's unique coatings and TiCo Hi-Density Carbide.
TiCo Hi-Density carbide is a specially formulated, highly compact Titanium Cobalt Carbide engineered and manufactured by Freud to maximize performance on all Freud cutting tools. Designed in Freud research and development laboratories, Freud's TiCo Hi-Density carbide is scientifically developed using Titanium Carbide, Cobalt and Tungsten (as well as proprietary elements), to produce a supreme product. Carbide size is extremely important when it comes to sharpness as well as the rate at which an edge wears. The larger the carbide grain, the faster an edge will wear. While standard carbides measure as large as 5 microns, and an advanced micrograin carbide can measure 1 micron, Freud's TiCo Hi-Density Carbide is miniscule in comparison at .8 microns, with a laminate blend as small as .4 microns.

In many woodworking shops, one saw must serve multiple purposes. It must rip a piece of 4/4 oak and also crosscut a sheet of 3/4" plywood. The groups of five teeth include one flat tooth for ripping, followed by four alternate top bevel teeth for crosscutting and a large gullet for effective clearance. This blade also features laser cut anti-vibration slots, practically eliminating the vibration that resonates in standard blades. With this ultimate combination blade, there is no need for stabilizers.
The 10-inch Freud LU84R011 Combination Saw Blade with Perma-SHIELD offers a configuration that pairs flat teeth and alternating-top-bevel teeth to ensure strong performance both when ripping and when crosscutting. Also offering TiCo high-density carbide tips, laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that eliminate the need for stabilizers, and Freud's Perma-SHIELD coating to prevent the buildup of friction and heat, this multi-purpose blade is built for lasting convenience.
This blade's 50 teeth are arranged in groups of five, each of which includes one flat-top raker tooth for fast, accurate ripping. Each flat tooth is followed by four alternating-top-bevel (ATB) teeth that are particularly well suited to crosscutting, and large gullets between the teeth ensure effective chip clearance.
This blade is designed for optimal performance when crosscutting materials that are 3/4 to 3-1/2 inches thick or ripping materials that are 3/8 to 1-1/2 inches thick. It makes quick work of hard- and softwood, plywood, and chipboard. It can also handle laminates or tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a .126 kerf.
Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design
This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use. Furthermore, this well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use add-on stabilizers with this blade.
High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance
This combination saw blade's 50 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application- specific TiCo high-density carbide "combination blend." Formulated to help the blade maintain a sharp cutting edge for longer when faced with a variety of applications, this blend includes just a little bit more high-density tungsten carbide than other TiCo blends. And it still offers the full mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.
With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--saving you time and money.
Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat Buildup
Built to withstand tough use in less-than-ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non-stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.
As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.
This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

I am a small home improvement contractor. I make custom cabinets, bookshelves, entry doors and trim. It is not a furniture production business. Sometimes I will not turn my table saw on for several days. However, these Freud 50 tooth combination blades are heavy workers on my 3 HP cabinets saw. Unless I have to rip cut a lot of heavy hardwood I wouldn't remove this blade from my saw and replace it with a rip blade, for the rest of the time this 50 tooth blade from Freud does the most of the job.
It rip cuts pretty well on plywood, oak, walnut, pine and maple and it crosscuts very good plywood, oak, walnut, pine and maple. This blade would easily survive after 7-8 re-sharpenings and it will give you very clean cut lines on most of plywood and hardwoods that are commonly used for cabinets and doors production. I am sure that there are more expensive and better blades and probably even fancier. This blade will do the work for me, it doesn't cost a lot and it lasts. Pretty much it is all what I am looking for when I am buying a blade for my table saw.
I'm a huge Freud guy and have their LU85 on both of my miter saws. Even my old Rockwell....1968 model. That's the ultimate crosscut blade.....the LU85. All my saws have Freud blades on them.....the model 77 Skil, my Makita Hypoid Saw......I have an old DeWalt Radial Arm Saw from the 1950's.....beautiful machine......I always keep a Freud Blade on that also. Not an LU84.....but a Freud Blade. For a table saw where rips and crosscuts are performed often......the LU84 is the only way to go as I see it.......
