Is one blend recommended for certain types of climbing/difficulties/styles/conditions/experience?
All three blends have the same performance and health benefits. It's just a matter of personal preference - like peanut butter!
Most people start with Gorilla Grip and then change if they prefer finer (Unicorn Dust) or chunkier (Bam Bam).
Why does it cost more?
Our chalk goes through a proprietary process to remove unhealthy fillers common in generic chalk.
Most climbers report re-chalking about half as often when using FrictionLabs since it lasts so much longer.
Is FrictionLabs a specialty product meant only for elite climbers?
Is organic food only for Olympians? This is the best, safest, and healthiest chalk on the market, making it the responsible choice for every athlete's health and performance. FrictionLabs chalk is the sensible standard, and thankfully more and more rock climbers and athletes of all experience levels are making the change every day.Reviews

"This chalk is awesome...I realized I had to chalk up way less, and my hands never felt greasy or wet." - Andrew Bisharat, Evening Sends

Short and sweet: I love it! No chalk can make up for bad grip strength or lack of endurance, but I think it has improved my grip confidence significantly. This chalk is a very fine powder that seems to get into every crevice of your hands and even in between your fingerprints, whereas cheaper chalks seems to just sit on top of your skin. Additionally, the company claims that FL chalk is one of the most pure, which aids in its drying and grip characteristics; I have no reason not to believe that. On the wall, I find that I chalk up less frequently because I am confident that the thin layer of this chalk on my hands will stay there for more than just a couple holds.
I thought this Unicorn Dust would be an upgrade to my normal cheap chalk...unfortunately...it's worse. Not only it did NOT last longer...it actually leaves my hand with this slimy residue. I was climbing last night, I chalked up my hands before I climb on...at mid way, my hands started to sweat and the chalk on my hand turns into this gooey texture and I keep slipping on the rocks...SOOO FRUSTRATING especially @ a whooping $15 dollars a bag!!!
I took a photo last night...and will attached it here. A photo that was taken only MINUTES after I chalk up my hands.... If you zoom in, you can see the "shiny slim"...never had this issue with my cheap chalk (or mighty grip, or liquid grrrip, or dry hands products...). It could be my body chemistry...but I definitely won't be buying again.
Word of caution...Either use your friend's Unicorn Dust or buy a small bag to try it first...so you don't waste $15 + shipping like me =(
My one tip: even though this has no drying agents use it only as you actually need it. I have naturally dry hands. If I use Friction labs as frequently as I use other chalk while bouldering my fingertip skin will begin to peel. If I use it only when it is gone from my hands, my hands stay dry, friction is good and I get the usage above... one bag lasting me forever.
