Well, I am probably going to hear about this, but for me this was not a 4 or 5 star book. I liked the story and I liked the characters. In fact I loved Ghost and I am looking forward to reading his story. I liked the female/male POV. The author made me care about Tina and Nik and I really wanted them to have a HEA. With that being said, there were many things not so great about this book. There was a lot of telling the story instead of showing the story. I would have like more dialogue. There were a lot of misplaced or misspelled words. Also even though the story takes place in New York, it is very obvious that the author is not American. Maybe she thought that having the story take place in America would attract more readers, but when I come across things like "in hospital" instead of "in the hospital" it distracts me from the story. Now had the story been set in a country where I know that is how they refer to being in the hospital, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. The characters came across as much younger than the ages given. The hemophilia plot point didn't make sense and didn't ring true. I have known a person with hemophilia and he lead a very limited life because of his disease. Any cut or bruise was potentially life threatening and could land him in the hospital. Bringing the ex back and for the reasons he came back didn't make any sense. Having her dad fly across the country only to turn around and go right back to California without staying at least a few days was crazy. I think an editor could have improved this book a great deal, in my opinion an editor could have made this a 4 star book for sure. All in all, even though there are things that made this book a less that 4 star read for me, the author has potential and I look forward to reading her future and improved books.

If I could rate this a negative, I would. I could not finish this book and I finish everything! This book was so poorly written and, as others have said, sorely in need of a good editor. I liked the idea of the book and it started off well. Tina and Nik strike up a friendship since they work across the street from each other and he's blown away that it is strictly platonic. But then it just got awful. Real fast. Here are my top issues:
1. The dialog. Oh the dialog (holding my head).... - It was just awful. The women talk to each other like teenagers using ridiculous slang. I had to remind myself that this wasn't YA.
2. The location. The author says this took place in NYC, but it must be the NYC in another country. VIP bottle service that cost $100. Yep, $100. Even in less cosmopolitan cities in America, you could not get VIP bottle service for $100 at "the" top nightclub. And that would NEVER happen in New York.
3. She tells us what they're thinking and then she repeats it. Again. And again. The author used this technique, repeatedly, where a character would be thinking to themselves. Did Tina just say what I think she said. (Nik thought to himself) and then "Did you just say what I think you said?" It was weird and made the book hard to follow.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. If you're looking for a funny, sexy book, try anything by Alice Clayton or Christina Lauren.

*** I see that this book has been flagged with a note that it is being re-released after editing. Good.

It is always fun to have a bit of lighter read between some of the more angst, darker reads. Seriously, who says "jimminy crickets" or fideldedee anymore? the main character Tina is just too happy and way too cute. The male character Nik started out with potential but towards the end became just a sappy mess. Men don't gab with their friends and they don't giggle when they go all alpha in the bedroom. This was just too sweet and cupcake and candy for me. The storyline resembels many books we have already read abd it seems that this author was trying to channel Kristen Ashley on way too many happy pills.
Sorry

While I love the idea in this book, I feel that the story was executed poorly. I'm not a difficult reader to please but this time I feel completely disappointed, I had this book recommended to me time again through amazon recommendations and goodreads that I had such high expectations.

My main problem was the characters in this book. They are completely unrealistic and none of them hooked me. While the background story of each of the eight friends sound rich, the author failed to add that depth to their characters. I think the problem might be that they are mentioned too much: Too many bits and pieces on everybody else that we lose focus on the two main characters in the book. They are not that great to begin with... Tina sounds like an old lady with all the "sweeties" and "hons" and "dears" what with all those hugs and kisses she dishes out. At the same time she sounds like a teenager in her way of thinking and in her thoughts. You'd think having a hard life would make her more mature & worldly and perhaps a little jaded, considering what she's been through... Nik's character seems inconsistent to me. An ex "gangster" being so lovey dovey, sappy, and insecure? And there is just too much love between the eight "friends". It's weird. And a little disturbing, to be honest.everyone loves everyone, sits on each other's laps, hugs everyone and kisses everyone. Not even the most affectionate Italian family is *that* affectionate.

I'm an emotional reader, I usually cry over the dramas and heartbreaks in a story. I recognized the author's attempts to hook us in but they just didn't work. For example, the 1st misunderstanding between Tina and Nik, it would've worked if the two scenes were switched.
