I am a huge Sandra Ross fan and love how she is able to take a great story and infuse this with love and humor. After reading, "Love's Lightning: Love at First Sight Story" I was still in the mood for something along the same lines. The love triangle in which someone is going to get hurt, yet the love is true love and the people are each other's soul mate. That is when I ran across "More than Friends" by Monique DeVere. The basic story line of this is one guy, one girl in love and has a ton of passion for one another, yet there is something in the way.

Lily and Justin are in the spot most people would hate to find themselves in. Justin just broke up with Lily's best friend and the underlying reason was that he wanted Lily. Meanwhile, Lily has had a few drinks, upset that her best friend has been dumped and decides to send Justin a message, so she takes off to his apartment. This is a bad idea given the two have such chemistry, but Lily and Justin are simply meant to be. The situation is one in which most people can relate to in one way or the other. However, what makes this a page-turner is the passion the two have for one another even though they know this is territory, which could make them lose all the friends they have. It is the classic decision between loyalty to one's friends or following one's heart. It is one book; you are going to love to read!

MORE THAN FRIENDS, my first book by Monique DeVere, met my expectations perfectly--a smexy, "friends to lovers" quick read with the requisite HEA for romance lovers.

MORE THAN FRIENDS was very well-written (thankfully) so that I could focus more on the story. (Technical errors were well within the "we're all human range", although one was particularly jarring.) Despite its short length, there's enough development and depth to the story and the main characters so that the reader can understand (if not necessarily agree with) their motivations, reactions, and behaviour. The sex scenes weren't overly explicit--perhaps a notch or two above current category romances.

Although neither Lily nor Justin knew it, the instant attraction was mutual when they first met. But because Lily was already in a relationship and Justin had just started to date Lily's BFF, both tried (rather unsuccessfully) to ignore/suppress it. Now free of their significant others, Justin is hopeful about his chances with Lily but he's got some tough hurdles to overcome.

TBT, I actually liked Justin a lot more than Lily. He has been trying to do all the right things, patiently waiting in the wings. As for Lily, I understood her dilemma. Although I haven't experienced it personally, I've certainly witnessed similar situations over the years. But! But.... her determination to remain loyal seemed entirely misplaced after certain facts were revealed. Then she seemed more like a doormat, almost assuming the role of a martyr. (Her insecurities, on the other hand, were easier to understand.) Thankfully, she gets her priorities in order by the end. ^_^

Even though I personally had issues with Lily's part of the story, it wasn't too far-fetched.

I love Monique DeVere's books. They are sexy, fun and emotionally satisfying. The interaction between Lily and Justin is romantic but also realistic given Lily's angst over the fact that she's in love with her roommate's ex. Justin is both sexy and patient (which I suppose, makes him even more sexy).

A great read. Give it a try.

More Than Friends
by Monique DeVere

Justin fell for Lily the moment that he met her. But she was dating someone and he had just started dating her best friend. But now they are both available and he wants nothing more than to be with her. But she has some crazy loyalty pact with her friend about not dating one anothers ex's.

Lily can not believe that she took a cab to Justin's after a night of drinking and finding out that he broke up with her best friend. She said that she went over to give him a bop on the nose and give him a piece of her mind for not being the good guy that she thought he was. But she deep down that is because she has felt something for him since she first met him. But she never meant for things to go as far as they did between them that night and now she has to find a way to tell her friend that she has broken their pact and slept with Justin and she thinks he might be the one for her.

Review: I enjoyed the story of Justin and Lily. It was a nice, easy read without being boring. The dilemma that Lily is facing is one that any young lady could find herself in. So it was easy to identify with her story. So I can recommend this book to you all as a great, easy read that I know you will enjoy.

This was a cute, quick story. It was a fast, sometimes funny r theyomance. I liked the hero and heroine and the problems they faced in order to be a couple. Of course, there was a moment when I wanted to slap the best friend
