Have you ever wanted to learn more about your family's history? About where you came from? In the book, "The Friends: finding Susannah" Maureen M Gavan takes us on her journey to discover family she had never met, but wanted desperately to know. Employing the tools of a skilled genealogist, Gavan travels across Europe in search of her roots. Though this is a mission of fact finding, it reads like a mystery novella with twists and turns on every page. Along the way, you meet a mystical group of grave watchers who provide fellowship to the souls in the tombs of the unknown and to soldiers killed in battle.
In the end, you realize that learning about where you came from, reveals a lot about who you are. And that's a journey we all should take.
r pain or joy and all the raw emotion that comes with loss or reunification with a loved especially decades of years apart! I reccomend this book for everyone looking to learning or exploring genealogy and promoting organizations that do. P.S I am curious what's in book two of this series; meeting more people of the Author's family and hopefully visit their resting places in mind through reading.
