The digital control panel and remote control are decent but the timer function is quite primitive. There is no recurring or 24 hour timer. Its annoying that the timer has to be set manually every day. And the timer can only do one thing at a time. Either it can be set to turn on after the set number of hours, or it can be set to turn off after the set number of hours, but it cannot be configured for both on and off timers simultaneously.
Installation was pretty straightforward and took less than 90 minutes but the unit is quite heavy so be prepared for that. I'd recommend downloading the instruction/installation manuals from the manufacturer's website prior to purchasing so that you know what to expect. Other than that, the energy usage can be quite high if the unit is running 24/7 at a low temperature - in my case it more than doubled my monthly bill. I will need to find that balance between comfort/cost.Read more ›
Both have been trouble free and very easy on the electric bill. The energy star features really seem to make a big difference and the remote is a definite plus.
These units are fairly easy to install and a great deal with the free shipping. =^.^=
I highly recommend these and have told all my friends about them when they ask me about my air conditioners.
One small negative thing, it is pretty loud, so when we actually have meetings, we turn it off, but as soon as the lesson is over, it's back on and the cool air continues once again. Would buy another one in a heartbeat!
Soon after writing this review, the electric buttons on the unit gave out - thankfully we have a remote which allows us to still use the unit, but if we didn't, we'd really be screwed. Don't know if others had the unit buttons go out or not, but it is a bit of an inconveinence.
P.S. - Return of the product was relatively hassle free. CEVA came to take it away. The driver said the unit was obviously hit by a forklift and should never have been delivered. I am getting a full refund. In the meantime, I bought a replacement unit at Lowes for less money (even considering sales tax) and it is working fine. Amazon is great, just not for this product.
I was uneasy about ordering online because of all the damaged product complaints, but did it anyways. The unit arrived and we could immediately tell it had been dropped on its corner. The metal on the corner is buckled and the front faceplate is cracked. The unit is working properly so far though. I'm in the process of contacting the seller to discuss another faceplate. I'll cross my fingers.
I would recommend this unit, but am still weary of having things delivered. My feelings were justified with this order.
UPDATE: 20 minutes later I Googled Amazon.com, LLC Customer Service and got their number. (18002017575) Told them about damage and was given 3 choices: 1) return for refund 2) return for exchange 3) accept 15% discount ($70.50). The unit works and the idea of taking it out and packing up turns me off, so we'll take the discount and order a replacement faceplate at the local appliance store.
Customer service acted as if it has happened before and was pretty straight forward with the three choices, so my anxiety about having things delivered is even more confirmed.
