About the Author
I write stories about romance. They center on learning about the characters backgrounds, personalities and life circumstances that mold them into who they are and how they love. I am a sassy 40-something year old. I live in a quiet farming town in New England with my husband of fifteen years and our three rescued cats. After college I facilitated improvement in the physical abilities of children and the elderly then took the opportunity to enjoy my creative side. I love to sew, knit, write...sing and drink martinis (not necessarily at the same time).

So, I suppose by now it's no secret that I'm a fan of this series in general. This latest book in the series continued the wonderful story telling about the Becker family, this time focusing primarily on dear old dad. As she's done throughout, though, we still get important updates about the rest of the family, keeping it all still together and you don't feel like you're missing anything. I feel like she's done a great job of that, I don't think I'd be up to the task! I highly suggest this series for romance lovers. And, I'm not sure if this is the last installment in the series or not, but I have to say that, while I would NOT mind reading more, if this were last I would still feel....fulfilled, I suppose is the best word.
I understand where Miss. Alder is heading with this story, she is showing even though you are beaten an you feel you are broken and have all the trust and love you ever put into another person to have it all shattered, I believe that you can preserver and find the right person that will love you unconditionally and you can put your faith, strength and heart above all the sorrow you have had to endure at the hands of a monster who tried to destroy you.
This book is about family, love, loss an happiness. I spoke with Natalie about the first 3 books in this series an she explained a little about them so I could get a better concept of the family. You can be sure I'm going to purchase the first 3 books. I recommend this book very highly.
Miss. Alder doesn't just let the words flow from page to page, she brings you into the story. You feel the love, pain an hurt. As I said before this is about family, love, relationship's, weddings, births an finding love again .
William Becker is the owner of a very prestigious horse farm, he lost his wife to breast cancer years ago, an raised his three children by himself. Now the kids are all grown an finding their potential better halves, getting married , having families of their own.
William is a very handsome sexy man in his late forties hasn't touched another woman since his wife passed away fifteen years ago. His life revolved around his children an his farm to make a better life for all of them.
Leslie Scott is in her thirties she got out of a domestic relationship with her ex boyfriend he was sent to jail and now he is out hunting her down to hurt her again. She doesn't trust men because of the pain an suffering she went through at his hands an the verbal abuse he rained down on her. He tired to kill her before an he's on his way to finish what he started.
When William meets Leslie he can't take his eyes off her gorgeous figure, her mesmerizing green eyes, he feels something but doesn't act on it.
When Leslie lays eyes on William she likes what she sees. A very sexy man and after talking to him at dinner she plays footies with him, letting him know she likes him. She gives him her business card with her own personal cell number.
Miss. Alder puts two people together neither are looking for anything but fate sometimes intervenes and you find yourself with the one that you trust an can make you happy.
Sometimes life doesn't work like we want it to, there are obstacles that keep getting in the way.
Some people wait for love to find them. Some feel like they are broken, and no amount of love can ever save them.
Just as William an Leslie find a happy medium, she starts getting calls an texts from him, telling her he is coming for her. She is worried that he will hurt William or his family. She thought about ending it with him, but she has strong feelings for him as he does for her. When they are together they burn the sheets up. There love making is explosive, she has come to trust him in ways that she never had trusted a man before. Leslie believes he won't hurt her. William saves her from being hurt an shot when her ex breaks into the house.
Miss. Alder puts a roadblock up that is hard for Leslie an especially for William to handle.
Wow she survives being shot by her ex only to find there is another possible killer out to get her.
That killer has a very disturbing name CANCER!!
Miss. Alder throws a monkey wrench in here that I wasn't expecting. William's wife died of breast cancer an now Leslie has found out that she has breast cancer.
Miss. Alder shows compassion when Leslie decide to deal with the cancer on her own, she doesn't want William to have to go through what he did with his wife. She knows it will be difficult an bring back memories of what he dealt with once before. She doesn't want that for him, so she breaks it off an tells him she is getting married....really...
William knows something isn't right but has no idea what is going on in her head. He admits he loves her. He has shown her he cares deeply for her an wants her. She is love with him but she would rather loose him than have him go through the agony .
William finds out that she has cancer doesn't know what kind, and finally confronts her and she tells him she has breast cancer. He tells her he will be there for her to help her through this.
Miss. Alder has me convinced that he will do what he tells Leslie but he is going through a rough time, scared and sad that the woman he has fallen head over heels in love with and would do anything in his power, has turned his thoughts back to the only other woman he ever loved an he lost her. Now he has to confront his memories an find out if he can deal with this , if he can be there for Leslie in her time of need, if he can weither the storm and the pain of possibly loosing her. His mind is going in all kinds of directions .
He's not sure he can handle or go through this again.
It's not hard to feel what William is feeling and going through. It's like Miss. Alder puts you on each page an you can grasp the pain an suffering he went through. I can't imagine loosing someone I love the way he did, Watching the love of his life slowly weither away day by day.
I can feel their pain and sadness, Miss. Alder has come through for me with flying colors when she puts these two precious souls together and they both realize that love an caring can overcome any obstacle that stands in their way. It could be either a long road or short one depending on what type of cancer she has an if she is determined to fight and fight for the life she can have with William and if he can be the man who will be by her side through thick and thin.
This is a fantastic book you just have to read it.
This was a first time reading Ms. Alder's work. I read an excerpt from this story and contacted her about reading an ARC for review. After I received it I was a bit disappointed to realize it was the fourth book in the series. And that it is written in a style I usually would not read. But now that I have read it, I am glad I went into the book without any preconceived ideas of the story line. While there are many references to the previous books that make the reader go "Huh?" Nevertheless, it can be an excellent stand alone read. And I fully plan to read the rest in this remarkable series.
5 Stars for the brilliant work in this remarkable series from an Author I fully intend to follow closely in the future!
I received this book in exchange for my unbiased and honest opinion and review.
