For infections of: fin and tail rot, Popeye, gill disease, dropsy (swollen body, protruding scales), septicemia (bleeding or red streaks on body), secondary and internal infections. Maracyn®Two powder is a broad-spectrum antibiotic (minocycline) developed for use in aquariums. Due to its unique properties, it is absorbed by the fish through the skin. During the prescribed treatment, the concentration of minocycline in the fish fluids rises to a therapeutic level and is available to fight systemic infections susceptible to its action. It is primarily effective against gram-negative pathogenic organisms. Internal diseases are more difficult to detect than external ones and early detection is almost impossible. Symptoms of clamped fins, general listlessness, not eating or other unusual behavior can be caused by internal infections. All suspected bacterial infections should be treated immediately.

The antibiotic Minocycline, in the form of Mardel's Maracyn Two, is the most effective treatment that I have found for "Popeye", a bacterial disease that causes internal swelling in fish with one of the results being a gradual enlargement and swelling of the eyes that result in the "Popeye" condition, which is usually fatal if not treated. Up until the reintroduction of this product I was at a loss for a treatment for this condition as effective as the Minocycline found in Maracyn Two, after having looked for this medication on the internet without success.
Understanding the market opportunity presented by the Sentry AQ's withdrawal, Fritz is now marketing these products, in addition to their own products, with almost exactly the same packaging and graphics that these products were presented with in their previous incarnations, albeit now with the addition of the Fritz imprint next to the product line name. While this helps those already familiar with the product, while browsing the internet, I was initially a little confused as I thought I might have been looking at old web pages for products that were no longer available, as they had been unavailable for about a year.
That having been said, once I got past this brief confusion I was glad to see this and many of the other fine Mardel products commonly available for myself and the vast number of other tropical fish hobbyists that occasionally need tried and tested medications to treat our fish.
from online reviews I purchased this
performed the treatment for the full 5 days
saw improvement around day 3, almost 6 weeks later its like nothing was wrong at all,
back to his grumpy old self.
(When treating your fish for an illness, always remember that the key to helping them recover and keeping them healthy afterwards is to maintain good water quality! All the antibiotics in the world won't fix a poorly maintained tank.)
