I have a 50w halogen spotlight on it and do weekly water changes with tap treated with stress coat. Our water here is hard, north-central IL.
Cleaned them off in a Tupperware of clean, dechloronated water, and floated them in a 1 gal quarantined tank full of water directly from the 5 gal. 36 hours, no signs of hitchhikers. One plant had some algae growing around its budding roots, the rest were clean. Pitched the fuzzy guy and floated the rest in their permanent home.
They arrived Wednesday, it's just now Friday and the plants look super healthy and shooting out fresh roots like crazy. Best of all, my betta seems to love them and he's happily starting a new bubble nest in them.
Plants came in great shape and I received a few extra which were greatly appreciated. No hitchhiker's or pests were on any of the plants, and they are doing great so far. I will say to watch your mailbox like a hawk. My mail guy just dumped these into the mailbox and if I hadn't been waiting for them, they could have been out there for a while.
Will definitely be buying from this seller in the future!
So if you have mystery snails they may drag them underwater and take a bite or two. But the rest have new leaf blooms growing, so hopefully they all expand quickly!
Update: my snails stopped eating them and just dragged them under water a few times for fun. So the survivors of their games that have survived are doing well! I have new leaves growing :)
Btw my goldfish love to eat the roots on these Frogbit, but doesn't seem to affect the plants.
