I bought this two years ago after I was attacked by 2 loose dogs while riding my horse on the trail (she sustained lacerations to her face and legs and it was awful).
Now I always ride with it. And I used it recently for the first time when another loose dog attacked us and it was very powerful. It has a loud spray sound that startled my horse and the dog but when it came back at us again I was able to get him and he stopped attacking us. Fortunately my horse was not injured by the dog this time.
The carrying options are great and make it easily accessible which this time made all the difference.

It fits the bear mace, but I would NOT trust it as is. It is NOT durable at all. There is literally ONE SINGLE thread keeping the belt loop attached. What in the actual heck was the designer thinking here? A SINGLE THREAD?!?! That is pathetic!! This is supposed to be on your hip while hiking through the woods, over rugged terrain, and should be able to withstand dozens of draw-from-holster activities of the bear mace canister on top of that. I have used it under ten times and is finally fully broken. I am going to be fixing it and reinforcing it myself with my own stitching and high quality thread, but the fact that I have to do this at all is ridiculous.

Unless you are good with a needle and thread, don't buy this product. The entire thing is great, except for THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: the part that keeps the darn bear mace attached to you for when you need it. Just like the other person said: imagine having a 500 pound angry black bear sprinting at your face (or even worse...right at your wife/girlfriend/child/dog) at 35 miles per hour!! You reach down to save the day with your bear mace and...oh...it isn't there. It fell off a mere mile into your hike because the quality of the belt loop was SO BAD it couldn't even hold up to some leisurely walking. Now you get to get mauled by a bear, or watch your loved ones get mauled. Thanks for the "durable" product, Frontiersman! Honestly, I expected better from you.

Seriously, this shouldn't even be on the market. People are trusting their lives to your inadequate product. Take this off the market immediately until you fix this piece of crap and come out with something that is ACTUALLY durable and trustworthy.

UPDATE: I notified Amazon that the strap was missing and they replaced the entire product at no charge and in one day. So I wanted to update my review from one to five stars and also say that I highly recommend this product. It is well made, great value, and exactly what I needed. Thank you Amazon for being such a great company with great products. Highly recommend!
I had read the reviews and though some said the chest strap didn't come with the holder, others stated it was inside the sleeve. But this arrived today and sure enough there was no chest strap included. I bought this specifically because of the chest strap since the bear spray came with a sleeve to put through your belt. (I don't wear a belt) The back of the packaging states "for chest holster, see enclosed instructions" but there were no instructions either. I would not recommend this product if you are looking for anything other than a belt holder for your bear spray. Call me disappointed. I plan on returning this as false advertising or defective (missing parts).

Works well as carry/recording holster for DJI Pocket 2 with Scotty Makes Stuff Pro Creator Case

Needed a backpacking 'hands-free' holster to record while hiking. Because the Scotty Makes Stuff Pro Creators Case is larger, none of the current clips, holders, etc., will safely hold the camera while backpacking & recording. Although originally designed for bear spray canisters, this holster works perfectly as an improvised carrying & recording holster for the camera with the Scotty Makes Stuffy Pro Case.

I've attached two composite photos. The first shows the camera in the holster and the second shows how little storage space is needed in the accessory camera bag.

Fits the spray canister well; grips well enough to secure the can during hiking, but it's easy to pull out when you need it. The belt loop is about 2-7/8" high, and non-elastic; plenty for a belt, but may not fit over some pack hip belts (especially if you have belt pouches you can't or don't want to take off to slide this on). For chest use, the packaging states "For chest holster, see enclosed instructions", which there weren't any of, so... you'll have to improvise as you would with anything with a loop for a horizontal belt. I'd probably go 3 stars for backpack use, but I don't think they've made any claims for that--they picture the holster on normal belts, and it is just fine for that.

This is a correction to a previous review that was rejected by Amazon.

At first I thought that only the holster had been shipped and that the chest strap was missing. However, upon opening the package (I didn't want to open it if I was going to return it), I found the strap inside the holster. So, I apologize for my earlier mistake!

So, on to the review! This holster & chest rig seem to be of a decent quality, plenty of adjustment for the chest strap and it's possible to remove it if you want to use the holster on your belt conventionally. This, along with the bear spray (I purchased separately) are definitely one of those things that you don't want to use in anger but feel good to have close at hand in the wilderness!
