Frontline products are highly recommended by veterinarians for flea and tick control for dogs. For dog owners who want long-lasting, fast-acting flea, tick, and chewing lice control, frontline control on dogs aged 8 weeks and older. You only have to apply frontline plus once a month, so a 6-dose supply will provide you with up to 6 months of convenient, highly effective flea, flea egg, chewing lice, and tick control. Frontline plus kills up to 100% of existing fleas in less than 24 hours and continues, on a single dose, killing them for at least an entire month. Its special ingredient also kills flea eggs and larvae, which, in effect, prevents the development of new fleas. It destroys all stages of 4 major ticks, including ticks that may carry Lyme disease, which provides your dog and your family with additional protection. Frontline plus is waterproof, so your dog will still be protected if it bathes or goes for a swim. Using frontline plus is a simple 3-step process. First, remove the applicator from the child-resistant package, use scissors or just lift the plastic tab to expose the foil, and then peel down. Secondly, open the applicator, hold it upright, and snap the tip away from your face and body. Finally, apply frontline plus by placing the applicator tip through your dog's hair to the skin between the shoulder blades. Squeeze the applicator to apply the entire dose to a single spot on the dog's skin.

Another part was the dispensing tube that it comes in. It's supposed to be twist off, but half the times the tubes wouldn't twist off and we had to use scissors to cut it. But we kept using it because it was working. But then our dog started to get fleas about once every three months (this happened during the last year we were using Frontline). We weren't sure how or why it was happening. Nothing had really changed.
After the third time he had fleas we took him to our vet. She recommended for us to use Nexgard. It's from the same company that makes Heartgard, and we were already giving our dog Heartgard. Our vet mentioned that Frontline is a topical agent that works sometimes because it is not absorbed throughout our dog's entire skin. Nexgard on the other hand comes in a chewable little tablet, almost like a treat. A dog would ingest it orally and the medication is filtered throughout his whole body. We never thought about it that way.
Anyways, we started using Nexgard and have not had any issues with fleas or ticks. Not to mention our dog thinks it's a treat whenever we give it to him. So as far as Frontline Plus goes, we won't be using it anymore because of our positive experience with Nexgard. And also because our dog kept getting fleas after the first two years he was on it.
