None better than this at any price

There are very few solar lights that survive central Texas. As I write this, it's over 100F, 36%rh outside, baking plastics, batteries, making everything brown. Rain comes every 3 weeks - maybe this season.

THIS shines head & shoulders over ALL other solar lights brought over a 10 year span + surprise bonus was the motion sensor that saves juice, using the "high beam" only when approached and it's bright! Brighter than Disneyworld landscape path lighting, more similar to its low default setting. When new, battery keeps it lit throughout the night after a decent day charge - no other solar does this.

Nothing is perfect, certainly at this low price, so what cons ARE there?
1. As with any battery, this 3.7v/1000mah one will not last as long during the dark hours to power lights as each year passes.
2. Instead of being able to simply Open & Replace battery, these guys essentially made this product DISPOSABLE by hard wiring (in a mysterious way) an odd slab-type battery inside ... where plenty of room exists for a cylinder 3.7v/1200mah battery could have simply fitted into a battery holder - ref. photo
3. Shady lighting contributes very little to recharging, it seems only direct sunlight "does it" ... I also think I'm seeing better results with direct sunlight late in day than earlier in day, if one cannot get both - so locate it accordingly

Very bright for the size

I will put up a picture later but I tested the light out after charging it for almost 2 days and I am very satisfied so far. The light is very small but it produces a lot of light actually.
I just wanted to buy something that will illuminate our front door so I can see well enough to get the key in the door to open it without having to leave on a light while we are gone.

They never fail to detect me sneaking up on my trash cans.

I bought two of these LED motion detection lights to provide some illumination in the back yard when taking the trash out at night. Where I live we have many venomous creatures, including insanely large diamond back rattlers. For the purpose of not stepping on one of those, these lights work perfectly.

The lights appear very well made. The main body is a single sheet of stamped aluminum. The solar cell is large and is "potted" directly to the aluminum body with optical epoxy, leaving no gap whatsoever for water to infiltrate. You activate the lights by pushing a provided little pin (or bent paperclip) through a hole, and that is it. There are no other settings or adjustments.

All night long the lights glow dimly, but when they sense motion, they light up very brightly for 30 seconds. Then back to the dim glow. It is remarkable how bright these little guys are when fully illuminated. Motion sensitivity is also very good, and they never fail to detect me sneaking up on my trash cans.

However, security lights these are not. If you want to flood your backyard with light whenever a raccoon happens by, you should look elsewhere. They are sufficient for lighting a path, gate, or small work area only.

I mounted mine to wooden posts using the supplied screws. They are on the East side of the house, and so only receive morning light. None the less, they seem to charge fully each day and I've had no problems with them. My only complaint, and why I didn't award 5 stars, is that I'd like to be able to optionally set the trigger time to be longer than 30 seconds. 1 minute would be ideal for me. Still, an excellent product.

May be OK in the right application

I've tried several models of solar lights recently. This one is very small, and not very bright. One thing I don't like about it is that it only has one mode, where it lights up dim all night in addition to the motion sensing full brightness. If it's going to have a 'dim all night' mode, I would at least like the choice not to use that mode. If you want one that doesn't stay on all night (wearing down the battery and causing light pollution), I recommend this similar unit that's the same size and brightness: BAXIA TECHNOLOGY Outdoor Waterproof Motion Sensor Solar Bright Security Lights - 12 LEDs Wireless for Wall (4-pack)

3 years and still working...

I've had this lamp for 3 years and it is great! It's been outside our back kitchen door during all that time, under the really hot summer sun and the heavy rains that we've had lately (California) and it still works without a problem. It gives plenty of light and it gives light for most of the night. I love the fact that the cover for the leds is opaque instead of transparent because it doesn't hurt my eyes whenever I have to look for my keys or something underneath the light. I got one of those with the clear cover and I hate it so much that I put it all the way in the back yard where I don't really have to look at it. I wish my front yard would get more sunlight so that I can put a couple of these lamps there.
