Frozen Tears: 15 Stories of Blindness Before and Hope After Abortion Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 4 ratings

An agonizing loneliness torments Julie after her abortion, "If I talk to the pro-choice types,
they'll blow off my pain, tell me I did what I wanted with my own body. If I talk to the pro-life types, I feel like they'll cut my head off." There has to be a way back to human connection for Julie, but what is it?

Wayne, a tough, tattooed, ex-Navy guy sits through his marriage counseling session in sullen silence. His counselor senses that he has something to hide--and she's right.

As a young social worker, Margaret Irving, the author of Frozen Tears, is handed her first case of an unwanted pregnancy, and finds herself torn between her personal intuition and her professional ambition.

These are three of the many true stories of abortion told in Frozen Tears--stories which provide an emotional x-ray view into the confused minds of those who consider having an abortion, and into the hurting hearts of those who feel wounded after an abortion. There is weighty sorrow and wrenching anxiety in some of these accounts, but most of all there is a surprising, bright hope for healing for us all.

It is truly difficult to estimate the importance of this book. In a world spinning with opinion after emotionally-charged opinion about abortion, here we have real stories of real people, the truth from behind the closed door of the counselor's office. Our political pundits would do well to consider Irving's stories and the real impact of abortion in the lives of those who experience it. After reading this book, I'm convinced none of us can take an educated stance on this divisive issue without considering its long-term impact. This book is a must-read for anyone wondering what a life impacted by abortion is really like, especially those of us in the helping professions who cross paths with these lives every day, whether we know it or not.

Based on fetus' heartbeats and reactions to their experiences in the womb, I have no doubt that abortion kills unborn humans. However, I could only imagine how it affects the parents, never having talked with anyone who had an abortion. In “Frozen Tears,” the author gently yet factually describes real-life experiences so we better understand its severe aftereffects. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who sincerely wants insight to this controversial topic.

This author presents insightful and compassionate accounts of deeply wounded women and men suffering the long lasting effects of an abortion. Although there are common threads of grief and regret, Ms. Shumaker enables the reader to understand each has a unique story.
